New Logan Circle Bar’s Secret Weapon: Shake Shack

Restaurateur Ian Hilton has a simple solution to what he’ll feed gaming enthusiasts who make their way to the basement of 1400 14th Street NW to play bubble hockey and sip cocktails at his forthcoming Player’s Club: carry-out from his upstairs neighbor.

“The only food is going to be stuff ordered in from Shake Shack,” Hilton tells Eater of the decision to let the wildly successful New York chain handle the nutritional needs of those interested in racking up high scores on the classic video games (quarter-gobbling Gauntlet, for one), Skee-Ball, and pinball machines Hilton has installed at the Logan Circle bar now projected to arrive in early February.

“It’s going to look like your parents’ basement in the ‘80s — lots of wood-paneling,” Hilton says of the decor.

He’s still fine-tuning the plans for sibling establishment French 75, the more upscale cocktail lounge expected to move into the floors above. Hilton predicts that bar should be ready come spring.
