1) Lobster Weekend

Where: Taberna del Alabardero

When: Friday-Sunday

What: Taberna will have a special menu of Maine lobster dishes, ranging from stews and salads to pastas, paellas and soup.

2) Jazz Brunch

Where: Boss Shepherd's

513 13th St. NW

When: Sunday, starting at 11 a.m.

What: Boss Shepherd's kicks off its new brunch service with live jazz and a free glass of Veuve Cliquot for the first 50 guests.

3) Year of the Sheep Tasting Menu

Where: The Source

575 Pennsylvania Ave. Nw

When: Friday

What: Tonight's the last night to experience Scott Drewno's Year of the Sheep tasting menu, priced at $110 for five courses. There are a la carte dishes available as well.

4) Toscana Cooking Class

Where: Osteria Marzano

6361 Walker Lane, Alexandria

When: Saturday 11-2 p.m.

What: Attendees will learn how to make such dishes as panzanella and roasted rack of pork. Classes are $85 and include champagne.

5) Mark Bitterman's Salt Lecture

Where: Smithsonian's S. Dillon Ripley Center

When: Saturday at 1 p.m.

What: Salt authority Bitterman leads a lecture on the history and influence of salt. There are salt tastings, too. It's $65-$75 per person; more info here.
