Gunter Van de Velde

Gunter Van de Velde serves as the Product Line Manager at Nokia's IP Department, specializing in routing technologies. His professional journey began in the realm of professional services, where he delved into modems and TDMs at a value-added reseller. Progressing through notable companies such as Cisco and Huawei, he transitioned from professional services to become a senior technical leader in protocol and network architectural design.

Since 2015, Gunter has been an integral part of Nokia, overseeing the global product line for routing technologies. In this role, he is responsible for shaping Nokia's routing roadmap and portfolio, encompassing software functional specifications and routing architectural design. Gunter boasts an extensive background in IPv6 technology, notably contributing to the architecture team of the government-sponsored 6NET project—an acclaimed international native IPv6 backbone connecting NRENs.

Beyond his managerial duties, Gunter has chaired OPSEC, DCROUTING, and LSVR, while also serving as a longstanding secretary of the Operational Directorate (opsdir). His industry contributions extend to co-authoring several RFCs and patents.

Outside the professional sphere, Gunter's interests revolve around travel, particularly in Asia, appreciating fine cuisine, and indulging in literary pursuits. He calls Antwerp, Belgium, his home base.
