Perhaps it was a slow news week, but the well-dressed man that robbed a Garland Starbucks in November captured the attention of seemingly everyone on the planet with a Facebook account. Garland Police released video of the "hipster" suspect in action in hopes of catching the coffee-loving thief, and it looks as if they’ve found their guy.
Yesterday, WFAA reported that 32-year-old Michael Buonassissi was arrested based on information provided to police via a Crime Stoppers tip. The helpful tipster probably caught the semi-viral video footage online and recognized Buonassissi's characteristic look, who committed the crime at the Starbucks on Northwest Highway nearly a month ago.
Buonassissi was charged with aggravated robbery, due in large part to the gun he brandished at baristas when he demanded money from the register. In Texas, the sentence for aggravated robbery can range anywhere from 5 to 90 years, depending on the specifics of the crime.
If you didn’t see the video footage, Buonassisi’s dapper attire, including a sweater vest, Oxford shirt, man purse and trilby (not to be confused with a fedora) earned him the "hipster" moniker. No doubt, he’s feeling decidedly less stylish in a jumpsuit at Dallas County Jail, where he is being held on a $50,000 bond.
