The Bounty: Remembering A 'Ship Shape' Dallas Resto

Digging through the local restaurant finds on ebay often proves to be a history lesson of trends past ... or at least trends that still exist only in tourist traps. Take restaurants with nautical shapes. And masts. And anchors.

Take, for instance, this former seafood-serving homage to Fletcher Christian's mutiny within our fair landlocked city. Yes, The Bounty, once located on Field Traffic Circle (that's a whole other memory for some Dallas natives), was a shipstaurant. A shipstaurant that was so see-it-to-believe it had postcards. Postcards like the one pictured at right, and available for a mere ten bucks on ebay.

Clearly, based on the postmark and inscription, a "supper" experience at the Bounty was one to drive into Dallas from Sherman for. And to write home about — or at least to Ohio — 41 years ago, give a week.
