Harvesting Native Foods & Medicines

Harvesting Outings with the Culture Department

Are you interested in harvesting activities with our Culture Department? Harvesting foods and medicines is a great way to practice being mindful while also enjoying the outdoors. We recognize that harvesting, and sharing cultural experiences, is a part of our treaty rights and the Culture Department wants to help make these activities more accessible to you.

Harvesting outings are hosted by Culture Staff member Wayne Graika. Wayne has a lot of experience harvesting different traditional foods and medicines. He makes a point to include harvesting as a part of his lifeway and has put in the work to learn about traditional plants. Wayne encourages Tribal Members and their families to enjoy the challenge of learning about native plants for the betterment of our physical, spiritual, and mental health.

The Culture Department continues to invite Tribal Members and family to participate in harvesting outings. The outings will be on an appointment basis with limited numbers per group to maintain social distancing measures. At each outing we will provide snacks and water, and any tools that may be needed.
