I was able to successfully connect my Nanoleaf Essentials matter-over-thread bulbs in the Alexa thread network with the pairing code to ST when I first set up the hub in my Samsung OLED G8 (no thread capabiliy).
Since the Echos has forgotten their thread credentials after I’ve clicked “delete wifi password” in their website (Don’t ask me why did I click that. I just changed my SSID and their design was stupid), I need to set up all the thread devices again, but this time the TV Hub is unable to pair any of those and just showing error 39-513 (while Apple Home is able to pair the bulbs using Alexa’s pairing code).
I have done the following:
- Remove all the previously paired matter bulbs from ST.
- Make sure everything in the same subnet, ipv6 mdns working.
- Restart the TV Hub in SmartThings Advanced Web App.
- Restart the TV Hub by power cycling the monitor.
- Factory reset the TV Hub by clicking remove hub in the Tizen app and enable again.
- Remove the home and create another location in ST.
- Leave ST and join again.
- Reset the bulbs and commission them by Apple Home through the HomePod thread network and share to ST.
- “Connect to matter” button in the Nanoleaf app.
None of these worked and pretty much all of these resulted in the same 39-513 error every time (with exception of some other errors which asked me for the thread network key and still failed). I even managed to buy an eero router to eliminate the interference of other ecosystems and used ST app to commission the bulbs directly to ST but still failed.
I wonder if the issue is related to 1) some previous matter credential is left in ST so the hub don’t know where to find the bulbs; or 2) the matter commision logic for thread with TBR in ST is bugged in firmware version 000.054.00013 with threadAvailability = Unavailable; or 3) this is an intended behavior of ST for not to allow us to connect to thread device without the dongle though the hub was completely capable for it previously .
I commissioned my Nanoleaf Essentials matter-over-thread bulbs with my Echo Gen. 4 1st then obtained the pairing code from Alexa and used it to pair with SmartThings. Seems to be working ok.
I have a ST v2 hub, which lacks a Thread radio. If I start the commissioning with ST, Alexa wanted a code which I could not find.
If there is no thread radio from the ST hub, what thread router did you use when you comission with ST first?
The Echo Gen 4 has a thread radio and is a Thread Boarder Router.
Yes, I was using that as thread router too. Was able to get the thread network key in the Nanoleaf app at the first time, but don’t know why it cannot get the network key after the Alexa thread was reset.
You don’t need the key if you commission the device with Alexa 1st, then add to SmartThings, and lastly add to NanoLeaf so you can see your thread mesh.
I am aware of that. I was sharing the device from Alexa and Apple Home with the pairing code, but both fails with error 39-513.
