Hi,
Does anyone have some recommendations for the biosafety carbinet? I am planning to perform some EMS mutagenesis in the lab. For the safety, I’d like to order a hood specicalized. Are there any key parameters that I need to be aware of? In my opinion, the hood only filtrates small particles so the purpose of the hood is just for isolating?
Thanks,
Xin

I think EMS is somewhat volatile and so should be used in a fume hood. It is not about particles, it is about venting of fumes outside and high in the air where they will be very diluted and minimize any risk.

Hoods for EMS also serve the purpose of an isolated place to work with EMS, thus avoiding accidents. But while important that is secondary.

We use diapers for EMS work and dispose of them as toxic waste.
