The National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia embarks on its first international tour of South America on July 26th under the slogan “Uniting South America in a Symphonic Sound.”

Through this tour, the orchestra aims to strengthen cultural ties between South American countries, showcasing the richness of Colombian musical heritage at various venues in Brazil and Argentina.

Under the artistic direction of Israeli maestro Yeruham Scharovsky, the orchestra will participate in the Festival de Campos do Jordão and the Martha Argerich Festival at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Their repertoire will include notable pieces such as “Obertura Mestiza” by Colombian Víctor Valencia, which will be presented as a world premiere, Edvard Grieg’s “Piano Concerto in A minor,” Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Second Piano Concerto,” and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Concerto for Three Pianos and Orchestra.”

Awards and recognitions of the National Symphony Orchestra

Throughout its musical career, the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia has received several awards and recognitions. One of the most recent was the Latin Grammy for Best Salsa Album in 2023, in collaboration with Grupo Niche, for their work merging salsa rhythms with a classical symphony. Additionally, in 2013, they were awarded the Latin Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album along with the artist Fonseca for the recording “Fonseca Sinfonico,” co-produced and recorded with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia.

The Ministry of Culture of Colombia has awarded them several times with the National Music Award for their contribution to the development and dissemination of symphonic music in the country.
