Firmware[]
Created ver.req in the root of SD card, then pressed FUNCSET and DISP simultaneously, I got:
Canon DIGITAL IXUS 700 P-ID: 30F2 PAL Firmware Version GM1.01B no error Mar 29 2005 20:42:05
- In Windows Vista, you can right click and select properties. This will bring up the firmware version too!

Following download instructions, I "installed" Allbest's latest version available(but not experimental) for my camera.
I am investigating all features now ;-)

Firmware Update 1.00d -> 1.01a[]
In the german forum (Link) an Ixus 700 user has reported that he has successfully updated his camera from firmware version 1.00d (Canon 1.0.0.0) to version 1.01a (Canon 1.0.1.0), the Canon firmware update is available from here: http://web.canon.jp/imaging/ixus700/frm-e.html
Beware: such a REAL firmware update is permanent, you can't go back to the previous version and it CAN DAMAGE your camera !
