Caillou's Big Friend (French Title: Caillou et André) is an episode in Season 1. It is the first episode that Andre appeared in. This episode aired on March 9, 1998.
Plot
Caillou's Mommy (Doris) introduces Caillou to Andre, who is six years old. She explains that she and Andre's mother have been friends since childhood. Caillou is a little shy at first because Andre seems big to him. Then, he and Andre play as Mommy and Andre's mom talk. They go to Caillou's room where Andre decides to play ball, much against the house rules, and throws it at Caillou, leading the latter to accidentally destroy his own castle. Caillou yells at Andre saying that they're not allowed to play ball inside the house so Andre chooses to play hide and seek. Caillou hides under the table while Andre counts to 10. Caillou notices he is wearing sandals so he cannot resist but to tickle Andre's foot, causing him to move his leg and knock over the table.
Andre finds him and wants to play a new game. So Caillou goes to his room and fetched his robot toy, but suddenly, he hears a huge smash in the playroom. Andre tried to sit on Caillou's chair but accidentally broke it. Then Caillou starts crying, but Andre says that he's sorry for breaking Caillou's chair, claiming it was an accident and Caillou forgives him. Caillou's Mommy provides him a bandage for a cut. Then they play soccer outside and become good friends.

- This marks the first appearance of Andre. He returns in other Caillou episodes.
- Boris and Rosie are absent in this episode.
- Caillou’s rather extreme reaction to his replaceable chair getting broken is seen among audiences as one of his most bratty and whiny moments. On some Youtube uploads, while scrolling, you’ll see that this scene is the “most replayed” part of the video.
Goofs
- When Doris puts the band-aid on Andre's cut on the back of his hand, it is only shown only once.
- In the wide shot when Andre hugs his mommy the cut is not on his hand.
