A New Member of the Family is an episode from Season 2 of Caillou. In this episode, Caillou thinks back to when Gilbert was a kitten.
Plot[]
Meanwhile, Caillou is building a tower with blocks and Gilbert, presumably trying to knock down his tower, comes to Caillou who orders him to leave.
When Caillou was only three and Rosie was still a baby, Boris had brought home a kitten named Gilbert from the Animal Shelter. Then, Caillou sneezed and Gilbert ran off.
During lunch, Boris brings out a box to make a bed for Gilbert and as he finds a blanket in the basement, Doris leaves the kitchen to change Rosie’s diaper. Gilbert comes back, but, he spills lunch all over himself. Caillou and Boris then go upstairs to give him a bath, however, Gilbert runs away and Boris and Caillou go to look for him.
It takes a while, but they eventually catch him and bring him back upstairs to give him a bath. After they have finished giving him a bath, Boris gets out Gilbert’s flea collar. Caillou immediately sneezes and Boris suspects that Caillou is allergic to cats. If that is the case, then Gilbert would have to be taken back to the animal shelter.
Doris doesn’t see any hives on Caillou and his eyes aren’t watery and asked if they itch and Caillou says no. Boris gets Caillou to hold Gilbert and Caillou sneezed again. Caillou doesn’t want Gilbert to leave. Then, Doris gets an idea. She takes off Gilbert’s flea collar and tells Caillou to hold the flea collar and Caillou sneezed, meaning that the flea collar made him sneeze and not Gilbert, and Gilbert was allowed to stay.

- Jaclyn Linetsky still voiced Caillou during the flashback, and not Bryn McAuley.
- Continuity Error: Even though Rosie wasn't born yet when Gilbert got here (as suspected in Big Brother Caillou as Gilbert appeared all grown up in that episode) she somehow appeared in this episode.
