Italian restaurant Erbaluce, located in Boston’s tiny Bay Village neighborhood, closed at the end of 2018, leaving longtime fans without the opportunity to eat more of chef and owner Charles Draghi’s acclaimed Piedmont-inspired cooking, especially his immensely popular carbonara. Now Draghi — and the carbonara — are resurfacing at Tom Schlesinger-Guidelli’s West End restaurant Alcove, where Draghi has recently taken over the kitchen.
“I always thought my next restaurant would be a local seafood place, and now here I am at Alcove with its commitment to coastal New England cuisine,” Draghi said via an announcement from Alcove. Keep an eye out for the aforementioned carbonara, which is running as a special for now. Meanwhile, Draghi will gradually rework some dishes on the Alcove menu and add some of his own as time goes on, focusing on seasonal New England ingredients.
We don’t talk about Backbar
Somerville’s Backbar may be a serious cocktail bar, but that doesn’t stop the team from having fun with various themes. This week, it’s Encanto week, featuring cocktails like Isabela’s Imperfect Garden (sotol, fig jam, honey, lemon, lavender, and orange curacao, because “she’s so done with rows and rows of roses”) and Café Casita (pineapple rum, bourbon, amaro, coffee liqueur, and cinnamon, because “every household needs a little morning magic.”)
TD Garden introduces checkout-free concessions
Fans catching a game or concert at the Garden can now choose from an assortment of snacks and drinks at two new convenience stores that make use of Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology. No lines; no waiting to pay. Find a store on level four and another on level seven. They’re called MRKT, pronounced “market,” because who needs vowels in a future with no checkout line?
Got intel that should be on Eater Boston’s radar? Contact the team here.
