20 Great New York Tasting Menus Under $100

The newest restaurant from the team behind Atomix, Atoboy, and Naro (both also on this list) has branched beyond Korean-influenced dining, focusing instead moreso on Australia and other global influences with Acru. The kitchen is led by chef Daniel Garwood, who used to be a pastry chef as well as the sous-chef at Atomix, so expect the desserts to be well worth it. In the dining room, they offer a $95 tasting menu that will change frequently with the seasons, but do look out for the signature damper bread.

Chef-owner Junghyun “JP” Park originally opened Atoboy by taking the Korean staple of banchan to new heights with a large-format, affordable prix fixe menu. Seven years later, Atoboy is still going strong with an entirely revamped menu of new seasonal favorites like mussel guksu with purslane, melon with Jimmy Nardello peppers, labneh, and egg yolk, and oxtail soo yuk. Longtime regulars need not fret, however: you can still order Atoboy’s excellent fried chicken with spicy peanut and gochujang sauce as a $28 add-on.

The critically acclaimed chef behind Korean Chinese spot Joomak Banjum (closed at the moment) serves a 13-course omakase for $75 per person at this countertop spot located within Chelsea’s Olly Olly Market. DdoBar specializes in yubu tarts, football-shaped pockets of inari filled with all kinds of creative ingredients, and their omakase is truly inventive: Expect interesting flavor combinations like duck pastrami with duck rillette, or lobster with nori sabayon. And save room for dessert: an earl grey soft serve. 

Cost: $75 per person for the yubu tart tasting.

The beloved and ready-for-all-seasons outdoor dining setup at this Chinatown favorite for tabletop grilling might be gone for now, but Dr Clark is still a standout spot for a fun night out, kotatsu tables or not. If you’re looking for a tasting menu that’s ideal for a group, consider Dr Clark’s Choice ($72 per person). It highlights their Jingisukan tabletop grill with udon, along with seasonal soup, sashimi, fried chicken, scallop risotto, and Basque cheesecake,.

Cost: $72 per person, with full table participation. 

Now that it’s fall, Foul Witch’s “spooky Italian” cuisine is perfectly seasonal for all of your Halloween cravings. The interior and menu both maintain this vibe, with an open kitchen straight out of the Strega Nona books and a wood-burning oven. On Sundays, you have the option to participate in their Sunday set menu for $95 per person. Offerings change all the time, but past iterations have included blood sausage with beurre rouge, wagyu, and pici with cured lamb breast. If you’re here to get your hands on their robust list of natural wines, you can opt for the pairing to go with your meal.

New York’s most interesting sandwich shop turned sit down restaurant is now offering a four-course pre-fixe menu for $95 per person. Yes, the famous kangaroo tartare is one of your options, but you can also choose from hiramasa “pastrami”, barbecue goer goat, and an onion pear tart with blue mugello cheese. If you’re feeling like making a night of it, they offer a drink pairing for $65 as an addition.

Cost: $95 per person for four courses.

The ephemeral nature of Fulgurances, likewise, makes it what it is: a destination for thrilling and inventive tasting menus in Greenpoint. An offshoot of the Parisian chef incubator program of the same name, this Fulgurances, located inside a former laundromat, offers prix fixe menus from culinary veterans and up-and-comers alike, who take residency for anywhere from three to six months at a time.

Cost: $94 for six courses; $65 for wine pairing.

This new iteration of Gem Wine is just as cozy and quirky as the one before it, with a now-expanded menu of natural-leaning wines and ideal dishes for pairing with them: everything from sourdough bread and marmite butter and salted cod beignets to a whole roasted fluke with lobster sauce. And it also offers an “experience menu” where, for $75 per person, the chefs pick five to six dishes for you and your party to share, family-style, for the evening. It’s the ideal solution for anyone feeling a bit overwhelmed by the wine bar’s ever-changing seasonal menu.

Cost: $80 per person for a five to six-course family-style tasting menu.

True to its Italian name, this Nomad restaurant embraces flowers in every dish. Executive chef Garrison Price (Il Buco Alimentari, Asiate, China Poblano) has designed a menu that showcases the very best seasonal ingredients, and his chef’s four-course tasting menu doesn’t disappoint. The menu changes all the time, but do be on the lookout for Price’s deft pasta making skills — especially with the black pepper and lavender pappardelle — and the arancini made with arborio rice. 

Cost: $85 per person for four courses.

La Bonne Soupe offers a taste of the days that exalted that classic New York City take on haute French American cuisine, with a prix-fixe menu that includes dishes like boeuf bourguignon and leeks vinaigrette. It’s ideal for those who like a bit more choice with their tasting menus; their deal is $65 per person for your choice of starter, entree, and dessert. Pro tip: You can get soup or salad and a main for lunch for only $37 here, too.

Cost: $65 per person for three courses at dinner, $37 per person for two courses at lunch.

A quaint West Village neobistro specializing in natural wines, L’Accolade’s food menu is designed entirely to complement the eclectic wine list. The food menu rotates regularly, but you can expect to try bistro classics like steak tartare and a duck, as well as more seasonal takes like a black fig salad with snow peas and strawberry cream.

Cost: $65 per person for two courses; $80 per person for three courses.

One of our favorite culinary duos, Junghyun “JP” and Ellia Park of Atoboy and Atomix, did it again with Naro. Here, Korean classics influence the menu, which you can experience à la carte or pre-fixe. They offer three courses, with choices like potato jeon with parsnip and nuruk puree, dry-aged duck with burnt Asian pear, and parsnip crème brûlée for $75 per person. P.S. If you feel like splurging a bit more, their signature tasting menu will run you $145 per person.

When you’re looking for a splurge-worthy dining experience that feels a bit more intimate and laid-back — but still offers exceptional fine dining — consider this Williamsburg spot. On Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 7 p.m., as part of Oko Omakase, chef Daniel Lee puts together an ever-evolving, seafood-centric seven-course tasting menu akin to a kaiseki or kappo dining experience, incorporating French, Korean, and Japanese ingredients and culinary techniques. Think umami jook with uni, squid, and perilla, or parsnip veloute with crab, ikura, and nooroongji. It’s also a plus if you’re particular about your wines; it’s BYOB, without a corkage fee.

Cost: $75 per person, not including tax or service.

Affordable omakase is becoming more and more of a unicorn in this city, so when you find it, hold on tight. That’s what we’ll be doing with Omakase by 11Tigers, where you can get 11 courses for $79 or 14 courses for $97. The space, housed within the 11 Tigers speakeasy and izakaya, is the definition of intimate, with only eight bar seats guaranteeing a front-row view of the action behind the counter. The menu is both Thai- and Japanese-inspired, so expect dishes like their Tiger in Hot Spring, a tom khai gai broth with uni. Seatings are only available Monday through Wednesday at 5:30, 7, and 8:30 p.m.

Cost: $79 per person for 11 courses or $97 for 14 courses.

One the city’s most lauded pasta restaurants also serves a curated regional pasta tasting menu inspired by Emilia-Romagna, allowing you to taste a little bit of each one of their signature housemade pastas, like the Grandma Walking Through Forest in Emilia, a green cappelletti filled with roasted leeks and a black mushroom puree, or the tagliolini al ragu, a Modenese classic.

Cost: $98 for regional pasta tasting of six courses.

This East Village wine bar from the same team behind Kindred serves a lovely, mostly vegetarian tasting menu that’s a true steal: $55 for four courses, and an additional $55 for wine pairings to go with your meal. The menu rotates every now and then, and for fall, they’ve got swiss chard with crispy potato and smoked figs, duck pie with parsley creme fraiche, and ricotta dumplings with spring peas and lavender. 

Cost: $60 per person for three courses; $55 for accompanying wine pairing. 

At Runner Up, chef-owner Daniel Eddy’s sequel to his charming South Slope bakery and café Winner, the focus is on wines and some exceptional food to go with it all. Runner Up is offering a three-course prix-fixe menu at the bar for $50 per person Sundays through Thursdays and for $74 per person on Fridays and Saturdays. The menus change all the time but expect courses that might include lamb with sweet potato and herby yogurt or arctic char confit.

Cost: $50 per person for three courses on Sundays through Thursdays; $74 per person for three courses on Fridays and Saturdays. 

Tokyo Record Bar’s Vinyl Jukebox experience is unique — a thoroughly interactive experience that melds music and a lovely tasting menu into one unforgettable night. As soon as you arrive at the intimate underground listening room (Pro tip: You enter through their upstairs listening bar), you and your fellow diners begin assembling the night’s playlist together, and your courses are paired with each song throughout the course of the night. In previous renditions, the focus has been on sushi omakase, but at the moment, Tokyo Record Bar has an izakaya-style prix-fixe, served family style. 

Cost: $85 per person. 

New York’s longtime standard bearer for yakitori offers a vareity of tasting menus at different prices, one of which is under $100 per person. The pre-theater course ($88 per person) includes 10 skewers (seven meats and three vegetables) plus pickled vegetables and grated daikon. It’s a true slice of Tokyo in New York. 

P.S. If you want to splurge slightly more, you could opt for their omakase specials priced at $143 per person for 15 courses and $118 per person for 14 courses.

Cost: $88 per person. 

Contemporary Chinese cuisine is on full display at this elegant spot helmed by a chef, Jakub Baster, with plenty of experience in French fine dining (Daniel and La Dame de Pic). Yingtao’s $90 four-course prix-fixe menu is an exciting introduction to the restaurant’s uniquely elegant fare, with small bites of king crab, aged duck, and foie gras to start, followed by your choice of dishes that include chanterelle congee, snapper with yuba and goji berry, and squab.
