Thomas E. Carlson (California)
Thomas E. Carlson was a Bankruptcy Judge for the United States bankruptcy court, Northern District of California. He was appointed to the bench in 1985 and retired from the court on November 30, 2012.[1][2]
Education
Judge Carlson attended Beloit College in 1969 to earn his Bachelors degree and from 1970 to 1971 he was a graduate study in American History at Brandeis University. In 1975 he earned his J.D. at Harvard Law School and ten years later in 1985 he received his Master of Law degree at N.Y.U.[1][3]
Career
Carlson was a Law Clerk to Chief Justice Thomas Roberts of the Rhode Island Supreme Court from 1975 to 1976. In 1976 he began work as a Law Clerk to Chief Justice Donald Wright of the California Supreme Court. He worked there until 1977 and then he began practicing for Cooper, White & Cooper LLP in San Francisco, California. In 1978 he became Deputy Director of Staff Attorneys Office, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and would serve that position until 1985.[1]
