Judy Harris Kluger was a judge for the New York City Criminal Court of New York County, New York. She was first appointed to this position in August 1988 and was reappointed in 1997 and 2008. In 1996, she was appointed an acting justice of the Supreme Court 1st Judicial District and was assigned to the NYC Criminal Court. She was also the chief of policy and planning for the New York state courts, a position to which she was appointed in 2009. She resigned from the court system to become the executive director of the organization, Sanctuary for Families, 2013.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Kluger received her B.A. degree from New York University in 1973 and her J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law in 1977.[1]

Career

Kluger began her career in 1977 as an assistant district attorney in Kings County. She worked in this position until her judicial appointment in 1988, serving as the chief of the Sex Crimes and Domestic Violence Bureau (1982-1983) and Chief of the Criminal Court Bureau (1983-1988).

Kluger's judicial career began in 1988 when she was appointed to the New York City Criminal Court. She was also appointed acting justice of the New York Supreme Court 1st Judicial District in 1996, but was assigned to serve on the criminal court. From 1996 to 2003, she served as the administrative judge of the criminal court. She then worked as a deputy chief administrative judge of court operations and planning until 2009, when she was appointed chief of policy and planning for the New York state courts.[1]
