The Judicial Qualifications Commission of Georgia is a judicial disciplinary agency in Georgia.[1]

Note: State judicial disciplinary agencies do not have appellate jurisdiction or authority over federal court judges and justices.

Organization

Before November 2016, the state constitution specified that the commission was made up of seven members: two judges, three lawyers and two members of the public. The judges were appointed by the state supreme court, the lawyers were appointed by the State Bar of Georgia, and the members of the public were appointed by the governor. All members were subject to Georgia State Senate approval and served four-year terms.[1]

In 2016, Georgia voters passed an amendment to the section of the state constitution that alters the commission. Instead of prescribing the commission's makeup, the constitution after November 2016 stated that the commission is structured by the Georgia General Assembly.
