John A. Kronstadt is a federal judge on senior status for the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He was nominated by President Barack Obama (D) in November 2010 and assumed senior status on April 1, 2022. Previously, Kronstadt was a judge on the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in California.[1]

Kronstadt received an undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1973 and a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1976.[1]

On November 17, 2010, President Obama (D) nominated Kronstadt to the seat on the United States District Court for the Central District of California vacated by the late Florence-Marie Cooper.[1][2]
Kronstadt's nomination was returned to the President at the end of the 111th Congress. President Obama resubmitted the nomination on January 5, 2011.
Kronstadt received a rating of "Qualified" from the substantial majority of the American Bar Association, and a rating of "Well Qualified" from the minority. He had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 16, 2011, and you can find his hearing transcript here.[3]
Kronstadt's nomination was confirmed by a Senate vote of 96-0 on April 12, 2011.[4] He assumed senior status on April 1, 2022.[1]
