Elizabeth A. Foley was a judge of the New York Court of Claims. She was appointed in 2007 and reappointed in 2015. She was also an acting justice of the Kings County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the 2nd Judicial District of New York. She was appointed to this position in 2009. Previously, she was an acting justice of the Bronx County Supreme Court from 2007 to 2009.[1][2]
Foley passed away on January 4, 2018.[3]
Education
Foley received her B.A. from the College of Staten Island in 1972 and her J.D. from the New York Law School in 1983.[1]
Career
Foley began her career in 1983 as an assistant Richmond County district attorney. She worked in this capacity until 2003. She then joined the New York Attorney General's Office, where she worked as senior investigative counsel until 2006. The following year, she was the director of the Office of Special Investigations for the N.Y.C. Dept. of Education.
Foley's judicial career began in 2007 when she was appointed to the New York Court of Claims. She was also appointed acting supreme court justice for Bronx County that year. In 2009, she was appointed to the Kings County Supreme Court.[1]
