Hansen ran in the 2012 election for Kansas House of Representatives District 89. He and Peggy L. Elliott were defeated by Roderick A. Houston in the August 7 Democratic primary. Emmanuel Banks was unopposed in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
