David Hoort is a former judge of the 8th Circuit Court in Michigan. He was first elected to this position on November 3, 1998, and took office the following January 1st. Hoort retired on February 26, 2016.[1]
Education
Hoort received his B.S. in mathematics from Western Michigan University in 1974.[2]
Career
Hoort worked as an assistant prosecutor for Bay County from 1978 to 1983 where he served as director of the Career Offender Prosecution Unit. He has also worked as a private practice lawyer, an instructor for the Department of Corrections and a lecturer for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan and the Batterer Intervention Coalition of Michigan. His judicial career began in January of 1991, when he joined the 64A District Court. He then joined the circuit court bench in January of 1999.[2][3]
