Campaign themes

2014

McDaniel's campaign Facebook page highlighted the following issues:[4]

Economy

  • Excerpt: "I will fight for Southeastern Oklahoma to receive our fair share of the resources our state has to offer to improve our chances of getting new businesses in our area. To grow an economy you need natural resources (ex: water), an infrastructure, a good education system as well as a work force."

Water

  • Excerpt: "We must protect our natural resources, especially our water. We should never sell our water to anyone but keep it here to be used by us and the companies who locate here."

Education

  • Excerpt: "We must continue to improve our education which is the largest single employer in most every community in rural Oklahoma. We must demand that the control of our public education be returned to the local level and all unfunded mandates be eliminated."

Natural Gas

  • Excerpt: "Convert it and use it."

Senior Citizens

  • Excerpt: "We must fight for the right for our Seniors to be provided for and taken care of. They are a deserving generation like any other."

Infrastructure

  • Excerpt: "We must continue to extend our four lane highways, east and west, as well as north and south. We must also improve our communications and housing."

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Oklahoma

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
