Brown defeated Warren Christopher, Matthew Fogg, Glenn Ivey, Joseline Pena-Melnyk, and Terence Strait in the Democratic primary, while McDermott defeated Robert Broadus, Rob Buck, and David Therrien to win the Republican nomination.
