Ali ShamsidDeen was a 2014 candidate for the Seventh Judicial District (Place 1).[1] He previously ran for the court in 2010.[2]

General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 35 percent of the vote. He competed against Jeff Weill.

ShamsidDeen was defeated in the general election for the Mississippi Circuit Court, winning only 25 percent of the vote.[3][2]

Education
ShamsidDeen earned his B.A. from the University of Washington and his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law. He also holds an MPPA from Jackson State University.[4]
Career
ShamsidDeen has served as a municipal court judge for Jackson, Mississippi. He previously served in the U.S. Army. ShamsidDeen has also worked as a law clerk, an associate with the firm Lumumba and Freelon, in private practice with the firm Ali M. ShamsidDeen, as a public defender for Bolton, Mississippi, and as an editor for the Jackson Advocate Newspaper.[4]
