Alexander W. Hunter, Jr. is a justice of the Bronx County Supreme Court, Civil Term (12th Judicial District). He was elected to the Supreme Court in 1995. In 2009, he was re-elected and appointed to the Appellate Term.[1][2] He retired in 2016 to work with the United Nations.[3]

Education

Hunter received his B.A. degree from Temple University in 1971 and his J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in 1974.[1]

Career

Hunter began his career in 1974 as an Assistant Bronx County District Attorney. He also worked as an adjunct professor at Bronx Community College. In 1978, he became a principal law clerk of the Supreme Court, 1st Judicial District. He held this position until 1986, when he joined the New York City Criminal Court. In 1993, he was appointed acting justice of the Bronx County Supreme Court. He was elected to this position in 1995 and re-elected in 2009. He has also served in the Appellate Term since 2009.[1]
