Albert Tomei was a justice of the Kings County Supreme Court, Criminal Term, in the 2nd Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench in 1994 and served until 2010, when he reached the mandatory retirement age of 70.[1] Tomei was certificated to serve as a retired justice of the supreme court after his retirement and continued in that role until 2016.[2][3] He passed away on September 22, 2017.[4]
Tomei also served as a civil court judge. He was elected to that position in 1978.[4]
Biography
Tomei earned a B.A. from CUNY-Brooklyn College and a J.D. and L.L.M. from Brooklyn Law School.[5] His professional experience included work as an attorney in private practice, as the surrogate for Kings County, and as a judge for the civil wedding ceremony organization Judges for Love.[4]
