Advanced to Runoff
The top two candidates in this race have advanced to a runoff.
When a candidate or candidates "advance to a runoff," this means that there is a second, follow up election in which the top candidates, usually the two candidates with the most votes, square off against each other. Voters then have the option of picking between the two final candidates. Runoffs can occur when no one candidate receives the required number of votes or does not win by a certain margin.
