Uyanga was a Fire Army General who served as Commander of the Northern Fire Nation, being the most senior officer in the traditional lands of the Western Air Temple.[1]
History[]
Uyanga was born into military life, with both of her parents serving in the forces before her.[1]
In the 90s AG, a group of Earth Kingdom rebels led by Haoran used their bending to collapse Uyanga's home as a distraction while they freed prisoners in holding cells nearby. The collapse mistakenly injured Uyanga's son, who subsequently had to make use of a walking aid. Uyanga was incensed, and she swore revenge on the rebels. She was determined not to stop until the group was captured.[2] Uyanga did not distinguish between Haoran's rebels and the group of refugees they were traveling with.[1]
Jianjun, who was protecting Uyanga's son at the time of the collapse, was embedded in the rebels as a spy. Once she joined up with the group, Jianjun let Uyanga know the location of the rebels. After the spy's infiltration, Haoran's group was caught in a cat and mouse scenario with the Fire Army. Jianjun prepared to signal the general as the group made its way into the Western Air Temple.[1]
Personality[]
Uyanga was incensed by the attack on her home, and developed a personal vendetta against Haoran's group. She thought she sought justice, and saw no irony in the fact that the Earth Kingdom had suffered far more at the hands of the Fire Nation.[1][2]
Abilities[]
Uyanga was a master firebender. Her signature moves including wielding a blade of flame, and lashing out with a fire whip.
Due to being brought up in the military tradition, Uyanga firmly trusted in time-tested strategies.[1]
