Massak was a master boatwright from the Southern Water Tribe and an inventor who made designs for swifter ships.[1]
History[]
Massak was respected as a master boatwright in the Southern Water Tribe, and worked with Nyn Chei, an inventor from the Fire Nation. Massak's designs were pivotal in the new coal-powered ships used by the Fire Nation's fleet, but Massak saw that her design was used to create a defensive patrol ship, rather than a trade ship that could swiftly reach the Water Tribes, as she originally intended. The couple fell out and did not speak to one another for years.
After she fell out with Nyn Chei, she began to be courted by Earth Kingdom recruiters, who looked to have her as a lecturer in Ba Sing Se's Royal Learning Hall. Massak was wary of the offer after hearing what happened to the Earth Sages, but also had an insatiable curiosity, and considered accepting the position in order to unravel the Earth Kingdom's scheme and dig deeper into the Earth King's secrets.[1]
