Gyemtsen was an Air Nun from the Eastern Air Temple who lived during the lifetime of Avatar Kyoshi.
History[]
Gyemtsen was a very sought-out airbending teacher. Her sister died protecting the Singing Path, a spiritual site in the Earth Kingdom guarded by a spirit named Rong, and later corrupted by a daofei group known as the Ghost Tigers, who began using it as a hideout. After her sister's death, Gyemtsen left her prestigious position to protect the Singing Path. She learned that Rong wished to pull her home back into the Spirit World, but that she could not do it while the Ghost Tigers were still there.
Gyemtsen struggled with her urges to exact vengeance since her sister's death at the hands of daofei. She chased the Ghost Tigers through the winding stones of the Singing Path, and steered them away from neighboring towns. Each time she did so, she inched closer to the idea that if she could not find a way to remove the daofei from the Singing Path peacefully, she would have to do it by force.[1]
Personality[]
Following her sister's death, Gyemtsen was a conflicted woman. She felt an increasing urge for vengeance, though she knew that her urges violated the ethics of the Air Nomads.[1]
Abilities[]
Gyemtsen was well-known as a relatively powerful airbender, as she had been sought after as an airbending teacher by many.[1]
