Flint and Ember are two brothers from Yu Dao that lived during the era of Avatar Aang. Flint was an earthbender and Ember was a firebender.[1]
History[]
Flint and Ember's parents, Yoko and Bin, owned the Iron Tavern in the mountains near Yu Dao. After a terrible, public, embarrassing, and heartbreaking end to his first relationship, Flint fled the town. Ember followed Flint against his brother's wishes, but the two formed a "team". Flint often carried Ember on his shoulders, with the pair disguised in a large, hooded coat to appear as one enormous man. The brothers made their way to Boat Bottom, where Flint stole Qian Yu's Air Nomad artifact out of mere habit, not knowing what it truly was.[1] The brothers took the artifact to an old Fire Nation processing plant.[2]

A scrappy young teenager, Flint wanted to get over the shame of his first breakup no matter what. Meanwhile, Ember came to regret leaving home, especially as he got scared of regularly being carried on his brother's shoulders.[1]
Abilities[]
Flint was an earthbender, but was relatively inexperienced. Meanwhile, his brother Ember was a firebender, but he was just starting to realize his abilities, and was terrified every time Flint asked him to bend. Ember also had a fear of heights.[1]
