Home brewers Chris Rauschuber and Whitney Roberts have finally opened Brewtorium, a German-influenced brewery, restaurant, and beer garden near Highland. Located at 6015 Dillard Circle, Brewtorium is a short walk away from the Highland campus of Austin Community College and the Metro Rail station.
Brewtorium has a strong German influence, as that is the type of beer Rauschuber is most passionate about. There are eight beers on tap, from a rich porter to a Vienna lager (the website reports that Rauschuber has taken home over 125 awards at various homebrew competitions). Devoted patrons can pay $1,000 to get beer for life, in the form of one beer per day or one growler per week. Brewtorium also serves cider, mead, sake, and wine.
On the food menu (which has suggested beer pairings), German influence is present again, like flammkuchen (German-style pizza), mac and beer cheese, and bratwurst dishes. There are also classic pub fare like burgers, deviled eggs, and a couple of salads.
Brewtorium is open Tuesday to Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
