Throughout the game, the player is able to unlock different Life and Burst Gauges with various effects in the gameplay of Asura's Wrath. Except for the default gauge, the various gauges can be obtained by completing certain tasks in the game. They can be equipped in the "Extras" menu.
Completing the game with certain gauges equipped awards the player with an achievement/trophy. Unlocking all the gauges awards the player with the "The Whole Nine" achievement/trophy.
Life and Burst Gauges
Avenger
Avenger Gauge
Asura/Yasha's default gauge.
Effect: None
Defender
Defender Gauge
The "Defender" gauge can be obtained by achieving a Total Rank of A in 3 episodes in Part I: Suffering on any difficulty.
Effect: Decreases damage taken.
Destructor
Destructor Gauge
The "Destructor" gauge can be obtained by achieving a Total Rank of A in 3 episodes in Part II: Rebirth on any difficulty.
Effect: Fills up the Unlimited Gauge faster.
Thermoregulator
Thermoregulator Gauge
The "Thermoregulator" gauge can be obtained by achieving a Total Rank of A in 3 episodes in Part III: Karma on any difficulty.
Effect: Recover from overheating faster.
Survivor
Survivor Gauge
The "Survivor" gauge can be obtained by achieving a Total Rank of A in 10 episodes on any difficulty.
Effect: Length of time in Unlimited Mode is extended.
Blind Master
Blind Master Gauge
The "Blind Master" gauge can be obtained by achieving a Total Rank of A or higher for all episodes in the game on any difficulty.
Completing all episodes with this Gauge equipped rewards the player with the "Look Ma, No Eyes!" achievement/trophy.
Effect: None of the gauges are displayed throughout the game.
Augur
Augur Gauge
The "Augur" gauge can be obtained by completing all episodes in the game with the Blind Master Gauge equipped on any difficulty.
Effect: All counterable attacks are automatically countered.
Mortal
Mortal Gauge
The "Mortal" gauge can be obtained by achieving a Total Rank of S in 10 episodes on any difficulty.
Completing all episodes with this Gauge equipped rewards the player with the "Who Needs Health?" achievement/trophy.
Effect: Reduces the length of the Life Gauge.
Obliterator
Obliterator Gauge
The "Obliterator" gauge can be obtained by completing all episodes in the game with the Mortal Gauge equipped on any difficulty.
Effect: Maintains the Unlimited Gauge at maximum at all times.
