This does a fantastic job of catching the feel of the show and their relationship, while at the same time stripping it down to bare essentials. No shipmates, no Tuunbaq, no dietary hazards, no Victorian society as a framework, but the delicate bits of world-building make their personalities and positions echo the original beautifully.
