Privacy Policy for MPI-PL Archive Service Provider
This privacy policy states what happens with the user details that are retrieved from your Home Organisation upon using our services with the account you have with your Home Organisation. The same policy applies when you create an account specifically for the archive, except that in that case the information is not retrieved from your home organisation but entered by you on the registration form.

Purpose of the processing of personal data | The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics Archive Service Provider provides access to linguistic data and web services. Personal data is used to provide access to certain protected resources. User IDs are logged when accessing data and services and might be retrieved in cases of misuse. |
Personal data processed | The following data is retrieved from your Home Organisation - provided that your Home Organisation is wiling to release it:
If your organisation does not provide some of these user attributes, you might be requested to provide them yourself in order to use certain services. |
Third parties to whom personal data is disclosed | When access to protected resources is requested, your personal data will be disclosed to the depositor(s) of the requested resources such that they can assess whether or not access should be granted. The depositor(s) could be in a country outside of the EU/EEA. |
How to access, rectify and delete the personal data | Contact the contact person above. To rectify the data released by your Home Organisation, contact your Home Organisation's IT helpdesk. |
Data retention | Personal data of regular users is deleted on request of the user or if the user hasn't used the service for five years. Personal data of users who have deposited resources into the language archive is only deleted on request of the user. |

Web analytics and utilisation of cookies
For gathering statistics about the usage of this site, we deploy the Matomo web analytics program (formerly: Piwik), which utilises cookies and JavaScript to collect certain information on your computer and transmit it to us automatically. This program is hosted on a server within the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics. Each time you visit this site, our system records the following information:
- IP address in anonymised form (shortened)
- Two cookies to differentiate different visitors (pk_id and pk_sess)
- Previously visited URL (referrer), if communicated by the browser
- Name and version of the operating system
- Name, version and language setting of the browser
Additionally, if JavaScript is activated:
- URLs visited on this website
- Times at which pages are visited
- Type of HTML queries
- Screen resolution and colour depth
- Formats and techniques supported by the browser
The information we collect about individual site visits is not shared with third parties. Only aggregated statistics such as overall monthly or annual visits to the site may be shared with third party organisations, such as research funding bodies.
