Salaryman Exorcist: The Sorrows of Yukio Okumura (サラリーマン祓魔師 (エクソシスト) 奥村雪男の哀愁 Sararīman Ekusoshisuto: Okumura Yukio no Aishū) is a spin-off manga written by Kazue Katō and illustrated by Minoru Sasaki. It officially debuted in the 7th volume of Jump SQ.19 magazine that released April 19th, 2013 as a one shot.

The series documents the everyday life of Yukio Okumura in a more comedic take on the world than the main series. It started serialization in October 2013 in the Jump SQ.19 magazine until it ceased publication, and moved to the Jump SQ. magazine in the May 2015 issue, where it is was usually published monthly alongside Blue Exorcist. The series was also published occasionally on Jump SQ.CROWN, a spin-off magazine of Jump SQ. that released quarterly from July 2015 through to January 2018.

The series ended with its 96th overall serialized chapter in the May 2020 issue of Jump SQ released on April 3, 2020. The fourth and final volume for the series released two months later on June 4th, 2020 in Japan.

Trivia[]

  • The covers for Volumes 1 & 2 were parody versions of the covers for Blue Exorcist Volumes 2 & 15 respectively, with Yukio drawn in the same poses but in different contexts.
  • The cover for Volume 3 was a parody version of the cover for Blue Exorcist Volume 1 with Yukio drawn in the same pose and clothes as Rin.
  • A special chapter of Salaryman Exorcist: The Sorrows of Yukio Okumura was printed in the Ao no Exorcist 10th Anniversary Book AOEX10 to celebrate Blue Exorcist's 10th anniversary. As the serialization ended before this book's publication, this chapter can ultimately be considered the series' final chapter.
