It has been a while now … since I have been here. I am kind’a making a pause in designing and taking more time to knit from other designers.
This is what I have been knitting so far.
First is a major change to one of my own designs: greenhouse knits tunic, a short sleeved tunic
changed into this: a long sleeved pullover.
Because I love that green. I remember green was my favorite color as a kid. And I will wear it a lot more if it has long sleeves.
I ripped back about 20 cm of length of the body. That makes 100 grs and I still had 25 grs left, so a total of 125 grs. I knit the sleeves without decreases and used up almost all.
I finshed them with an I-cord bind off like this: cast on 3 sts, slip sts back to right needle, * k2, k2tog, slip sts back to right needle, k2, k3tog, repeat from * until all sts of the sleeve have been worked, sew the 3 live sts to the 3 cast on sts.

Next is a pattern from Svetlana Rogatykh on Ravelry: The Leaves. She has wonderfully detailed charts for stranded knitting. In fact, this pattern is ment to be made with a knitting machine.
I worked it in doubleknit and mohair. I was curious to see how this would work out with the fluffy mohair. I wanted to see the effect of ‘blurred’ leaves and I must say it looks good. I doubled the mohair with a strand of laceweight (or is it cobweb).
Cast on 65 sts, first row: *k1, p1tbl in same st, repeat to obtain 130 sts (65 sts for each side of the double knit rows).
I only used the chart of the leaves, not the border because it would get too wide for a scarf.

Next a little shawlette which I wear all the time, every day: flowerbed scarf, a very easy knit and it is a free pattern from Ruth Michel on Ravelry.
I used 3 mm needles and about 1 skein and a half of ‘Malabrigo Yarn Silkpaca’ colorway ‘pollen’. I added one flower section because my yarn is much lighter than the yarn used for the pattern.

Then a pair of mittens: Lövvantar from Elin Åkelius, also a free pattern with some nice leaves in stranded colorwork.
2 mm and 2.5 mm needles, Drops alpaca and Drops Fabel (the white yarn).

A few pairs of socks. Socks are fun, quick, little projects to work on.
In a second hand store I found these gorgeous old cardboard boxes. And what’s more, they were filled with very fine sock yarn in all kind of colors. Tiny balls of sock yarn. (I think it’s the kind of yarn used to mend socks and they probably come from a very old shop). I would have bought it only for the cardboard boxes…
After seeing a pattern with radishes, I remembered I used to love drawing charts (still do, in fact). That was a long time ago, I should have them somewhere …
Found them, I had the drafts stored in an old knitting book that belonged to my mother…
Using the pattern of ‘pythagoras’ socks and my ‘old’ chart of carrots.
Tubular cast on of 72 sts with 2.25 mm needle, work 3 rows flat, then join in the round.
Tubular cast on like this. I also tried the method for neater ribbing, working the purls with the yarn coming from under the needle as for a knit stitch.
16 rounds of 1/1 ribbing, then 20 rounds stockinette stitch before starting the chart.
I made another pair with the same idea : small pears from our garden.

Something I couldn’t resist making 😉

A large project to work up some of (my huge) stash. That took some time …
Well not that long, I must say: from June to August; 3 months.
Working from stash, DK weight or sport/fingering/lace held double
Aiming for 108 squares: 9 x 12 and a gradient: from greenyellow, greenblue, bluegreen light, over green, dark bluegreen to blue. Working them as separate squares as I want to take them with me on travel
I think I will be a little less ambitious: 8 x 11: 88 squares or 8 x 12: 96 squares, 9 x 11: 99 squares.
July 31: I have 98 squares, 1 more to go.
It measures ± 200 cm x 167 cm, and weighs 2.2 kg (less in my stash)
I added an I-cord all around for a neat edge.

More socks…
In stranded colorwork based on my patterns ‘pythagoras socks’ and ‘vive la fête #1’
Needles: 2.25 and 2.5 mm, Yarn: Rohrspatz & Wollmeise Sockenwolle 80/20 Twin, colorway ‘QED’ and ‘nicole’.
I cast on 70 sts with dark color and 2.25 mm needle, then 15 rounds 1/1 ribbing.
Knit 1 round with 2.5 mm needle and dark color decreasing 1 st (= 69 sts: 34 sts on first needle and 35 sts on second needle)
Join light color and knit chart with 2.5 mm needle.

Another pair:
Talgoxe-sukat by Lotta Lundin: soooo beautiful. Finnish socks always look so elaborate, like small paintings, artwork. And I like stranded colorwork. One could tell ;-D
The pattern is in Finnish, but it has charts. So I used a standard sock pattern to work the heel and toe.
Cast on 80 sts with 2 mm needle. Then knit 7 rounds (instead of 8: I don’t think I have enough of the green), a round with yo, k2tog, 7 knit rounds.
Chart with 2.25 mm needle

And last but not least: a new pullover, well the pattern is for a dress in fact:
Yoke Dress Medusa by Annu Maria Tulonen
I like this, it is very graphic.
I added some short rows to raise the back neck.
Making it shorter. I don’t really want/need a dress.
Needles: 3.25 mm for the ribbing and 4 mm for the stranded colorwork and stockinette stitch. I used 275 grs of the white yarn which is worsted weight and 270 grs of the dark grey.
That’s it, folks. Nine small projects and two large ones up to now. That makes one project a month.
