The Dead by Daylight question

I recently linked Alan's Fortnite and Dead by Daylight appearances in his appearances section for due diligence, but realized DBD adds another wrinkle. His inclusion comes with a hefty amount of lore explanation, even more to be revealed on the 30th. But I KNOW that just putting that section in his bio, taking place sometime before AW2 will have the comments full of arguments about its canonicity even if Sam suggested it in the press release. Is there a stock section heading for dubious canonicity and timeline placement like other wikis have, or should this lore be relegated to the Trivia section. I'll trust the peeps who've been here longer than me.

Alan Wake II releases 27 October 2023

At the PlayStation Showcase, Alan Wake II's release date was revealed to be 27 October 2023. Gameplay was shown for the very first time, which you can watch the gameplay trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0vNoRhuV_I

PlayStation.Blog also released a blogpost from Communications Director, Thomas Puha, detailing certain aspects of the game, which now includes a second protagonist alongside Alan himself, named Detective Saga Anderson. Alan and Anderson will each have their own respective campaigns which can be played in any order.

Across the game, players will explore three locations as Saga Anderson: the forests of Bright Falls, the bustling and vibrant New York City and the abandoned town of Watery, as they uncover a mystery surrou…

Bright Falls (Mini-Series) - Upscaled to 1080p!

The mini-series "Bright Falls" remains to be one of the more obscure pieces of Alan Wake media to this day, and its episodes were usually only available in 720p and lower resolutions. While other upscales exist nowdays, some do tend to be blurry for several reasons.

I've downloaded all the episodes (including the trailer and the atmosphere video for good measure) from the official source, meaning that they were in their best possible quality before the upscale. The upscaling to 1080p was rather basic since I didn't want to alter the colour-grading of the original videos in any way, only sharpen the visuals. This is also why I didn't upscale the series to 2K/4K or edited the episodes together.

Here is a link to the unlisted playlist containin…

Contributions Welcome!

Hi everyone!

So if you're joining because of the recent Alan Wake Remastered announcement, or returning because of that and Control, welcome!

I'm writing this post as this wiki is in need of a vast update. I've done some various changes; you may notice the homepage has been given a facelift since it was using an old template from way back in 2010. However there are many articles that still need pages for, most specifically anything Alan Wake related that appears in the Control video game.

One thing I'd absolutely like to try to have, at least on all the "character" pages, is a list of appearances of where a character appears in. So for example, Cynthia Weaver. She appears in Alan Wake, Episode 1 and Episode 5, so that could be linked at the b…

Alan Wake Remastered Announced

Rumoured since June 2021, Sam Lake, the co-founder of Remedy Entertainment, took to Twitter to announce through a post on Alanwake.info (The Sudden Stop fan-site) that a remastered version of Alan Wake is indeed real and coming in Fall 2021.

"Alan Wake Remastered is the original experience you fell in love with all those years ago. We did not want to change that. But the visuals all around, including the character model of Alan Wake himself and the cinematics, have been updated and improved with some choice next-generation upgrades."

As recent as this past weekend (4th-5th September) Alan Wake Remastered had been leaked on various online stores, though these were quickly taken down. One thing these sites had in common is they stated a releas…

Alan Wake Remastered Coming Soon?

Wario64, known to finding deals and information relating to upcoming video games, has spotted that a listing for Alan Wake Remastered can be found on the Epic Games Store.

Previously it was rumoured that Alan Wake 2 was coming and that it would be published by Epic Games also, which would make sense. Whether or not Alan Wake 2 or even Alan Wake Remastered are Epic Games Store exclusives or will also come to console is yet to be seen.

Alan Wake 2 Rumoured to be Published by Epic Games

After a new Alan Wake title was seemingly teased in the second DLC of Control, we have a new rumour on its development.

On Jeff Grubb's Twitch stream titled "Jeff Grubb's Game Mess", he stated that the rights to publish Alan Wake 2 was actually in a bidding war, and Epic Games was the one who won the rights to publish it. Previously Remedy had stated they were working with Epic Games to have multiple new games published.

Alan Wake Returns to Steam

Yesterday (25th October 2018) Alan Wake returned to Steam just in time for Halloween.

To celebrate this, Remedy has also slashed the price of it by 80%, selling at £2.28/$3.00. What's better is that the entire franchise is currently selling at 80% off, which means it includes Alan Wake's American Nightmare also.

Currently the game is only available digitally on Steam but Remedy have stated the game will return to other digital stores soon. The reason why Alan Wake was removed from digital stores in the first place was due to licensing issues of some of the songs found in the game.

Alan Wake TV Show Announced

Showbiz site Variety has just exclusively revealed that Alan Wake will be adapted into a TV show.

The TV show, which currently does not have a release window, will be adapted by 'Legion' and 'Cloak and Dagger' Executive Producer Peter Calloway with creator of the Alan Wake franchise Sam Lake also signed up to executive produce.

Tomas Harlan, a partner of the studio named Contradiction Films tasked in developing it said "Alan Wake was basically a TV series that was put into a game. That was Sam’s vision. It was influenced by ‘The Twilight Zone,’ ‘Secret Window,’ Hitchcock, ‘Northern Exposure,’ a lot of U.S. television. We plan to work closely with Sam on our this show. Sam is a huge part of this. Introducing New Gaming Footers

The new game footers are brought to you by Encyclopedia Gamia and our very own Games Hub. The basic goal is simple: draw together Wikia communities in one location that enjoy the same genres and hopefully expose them to some new games and communities they might be interested in. Our secondary goal is to try and connect editors looking for help with members and administrators from other wikias who are interested in helping them out, whether it be with content, technical knowledge, or insight gleaned from running a community.

If you haven't already been approached, feel free to include your site in the submission section below in the genre you feel is most appropriate for the game you cover. Note that, with rare exception, a game should only…

Alan Wake 2

If the Alan Wake 2 will be released, how it should be? For my, it should be sandbox with option to travel along Bright Falls and that town from "2" what about Sam Lake was talking. The Taken should have riffles from Nineteenth century. And it should be some machine gun, cause hunting riflfes from Alan Wake 1 wasn't the best gun I've ever seen in this game. And it could be a co-op with Barry/Sarah in one console and split screen or by the internet. What's your opinion?

Remedy Have NOT Given Up on Alan Wake 2

When Remedy revealed their newest game, Quantum Break, there were a lot of people who were less than pleased with it. Many fans were expecting Alan Wake 2, only to be disappointed.

A day after the announcement, Sam Lake took to YouTube and talked to Remedy's fanbase about the prospects of Alan Wake 2 and why it is not in development.

"When Alan Wake came out, it was not a huge hit on day one. It has been doing really well since then, and has moved more than three million – which is a nice figure. But when the game was released, that was not the case immediately. And even though we worked hard on it, the sequel was not happening. The time wasn’t right for that."

Although things seemed doomed, Lake did not say this was the end.

"We definitely wa…

Remedy Announces "Quantum Break" for Xbox One

The next Xbox was revealed today, being called the "Xbox One". Whilst most of us were hoping for an Alan Wake 2 announcement, we got something else instead.

Mixing live-action scenes and gameplay, Remedy announced Quantum Break. Not much is known about it yet, but what we saw was a family moving house with a little girl revealing she has some strange power to her mother. We then see a ship crash into a boat.

The game will use the element of time, much to that of Remedy's "Bullet time" in Max Payne. The tagline is "Time is the fire in which we burn."

The game is due to be released exclusively on the Xbox One in 2014.

Alan Wake: More Than Just a Video Game

So, last year I wrote an evaluation essay for a college compositon class about the game Alan Wake. Below is the full text, hope whoever reads this enjoys it.

Alan Wake: More than Just a Video Game

If a video game exists today that can be called a work of art, it’s Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake. As a game, Alan Wake’s genre is “third-person shooter/psychological thriller”. The game isn’t strictly horror-based, just as it isn’t strictly a shooting game. Rather, the game is more about survival and telling a story in a similar way to some of the best novels written by Stephen King himself. Like King’s novels, Alan Wake has a story that is full of vivid descriptions, foreshadowing, and cliffhangers in addition to the actual horror elements…

Ordinary, Samantha, Zane's Shoebox, and This House of Dreams

"Ordinary" could be the setting of the next Alan Wake game. In the alternate reality blog, This House of Dreams, that Sam Lake commented on in July 5th, a woman named Samantha has recently bought a house in the town called "Ordinary", (which could be the exact town that is located in Virginia with the same name). Samantha also found a shoebox in her attic that contains poems from Thomas Zane and pictures with a man and a woman in a boat with their faces smudged with black ink. (most likely Thomas Zane and Barbara Jagger). Ordinary, Virginia is right next to the ocean and could be connected to Alan's last words in the end of Alan Wake (Season 1): "It's not a lake, it's an ocean". The shoebox, that Samantha found, dissapeared for 3 fictional …

More Achievements Added!

Hey Guys,

So yesterday, I updated the default achievements for the wiki.

I have now added 4 more sets of achievements you can earn from either:

1. Editing either Alan Wake (Character), Insane Alan and Mr Scratch. I only want the "Alan Wake (character)" on these three characters. If the tag is placed on any other character for cheating, then you have been warned...
2. By editing any Character article that has the "Characters" tag on it.
3. By editing any Achievement article with the "Achievements" tag on it.

So that adds another 1140 points to earn! :D

Thanks again,

War Music Video

Hey Everyone, this may be old news to some of you, but the Poets of the Fall (aka Old Gods of Asgard) released a song a while back entitled "War." It is actually one of my favorites by them, and while it might hold some symbolic references to the Alan Wake series, there is nothing really explicit. But what you might not know/have seen is the music video for the song....which is nothing less than awesome. Featuring Ilkka Villi as Alan Wake. So for those of you who have not seen it, enjoy, if you have seen it before, why not see it again? link

Arcade Mode In Alan Wake's American Nightmare
