AREN'T I PRETTY NOW ???

Girls!! did you notice my pretty new Blog dress ??? of course you did...Oh girls I am so excited about this Pretty new me...I am not only doing my "Happy Dance " but slapped my thigh and sang a few tunes lol !! and being I am Irish I threw in a jig !!!


Now I won this extreme make over from Rose Haven http://jt-jantom.blogspot.com/ from Jan and Tom...Now you see now through April they are making and designing a blog dress every week and giving them away to the lucky winner !! Well girls the Luck of the Irish be with me .


So this is my New designer Dress....Bob Mackie designs for Cher...but I have Jan and Tom make me a pretty new me...I was so excited when I found out I won this...You see I have been stalking this dress all week and Jan and Tom had a Mr, Random thingy and it picked me!!!

This dress is so me...and girls don't you think I look 10 pounds thinner ??? Now you too can win a new dress just go by and see Jan and Tom and toss your name in the hat and maybe Mr. Random thingy will pick you !!! and you really need to see next week Blog dress you can win..

~SIGNS OF THE TIMES~

Happy Thursday Every body!!! Today is Vintage Thingie Thursday and I had so much fun last time I did this that I had to do it again...That plus the fact I am getting sore just laying Down ha ha!!

Now I collect a little bit of everything I can get my little old hands on....So today I thought I would show you just a few of my old Vintage signs I have in my Laundry room and Kitchen....

Now this sign is really a dark blue and white not black like it shows here...anyway during Prohibition 1920-1933 Pabst Beer Company could no longer make Beer...So They started making CHEESE !!! This sign is from that time !! This is whats called a Porcelain its metal with a Porcelain coating on the front....these type of signs are very collectible to this day...This sign hands in my Laundry room....

Another Porcelain sign and I don't need to tell you about this one ...as it says it all This one hangs in my Kitchen above an old Crank phone I have... I know that most people would not have these things hanging in their Kitchen...but Remember I have an Old "General store" Kitchen.

The Gra-Rock sign is a Tin one the Union Ice Company is an Porcelain one...these are in my Laundry room

Now this one is an Cardboard one...and look real close at the little guy....the same artist that did the Campbell's soup kids did this sign.. This is one of my all time favorite ones...its just too cute!!!

Soda bottle Tin one...Shaped like a bottle...Now I know some will remember when Soda companies did these Right?? Now this sign is over a Yard long and it hangs in my Kitchen...

This again is a Tin one and I just love the way the Kids are hugging each other...

Now I have the Parts cabinet and the Cream separator that goes with this tin sign...
Another Tin one..ca. 1920Now Tobacco's seems to be a NO-NO now a days...but I will tell you its very collectible in old sign'sNow I know a couple of my blogging friends here that have husband's that would love to have this one hanging in their garage !!! In fact my Len would if I let him ha ha!!!

Now I hope you guys didn't have to take a No-Doz to get through this post today...I know I can get boring when it comes to my Antiques... But I really do collect everything !!! Be sure and go see Suzanne...

Now !! I think I shocked some from my last post...by telling you I was a Playboy Bunny!! That was not my intent to do that...I have a family friendly Blog here...I am a very honest and open person...and I have never hid the fact of where I have worked through my life to support my Children...I did not choose to be a Cocktail waitress it choose me!! I had 3 babies that liked to eat, I was 15 years old when I got married and 23 when I was single..And with no formal education I did what I could do...I figure I would much rather tell my children I worked at the Playboy club that to have them State raised!! The state did not brings these Babies into the world, I did!! And I would do anything legal to take care them !!!

~A NEW BABY, AN AWARD & A INTERVIEW~

Hello dear Bloging World!!! I have a brand smacking new GREAT GRAND DAUGHTER !!! she was born yesterday weights 5 lbs 10 ozs and 19 inches long...this is my oldest Grand Child Bobby and his wife's first baby...so that makes 3 now...with 3 more to go by Sept...Oh I need to just give them my check book come Christmas...These Babies are coming at me right and left...Next one due in May !!! Then 2 in Sept !!!


Now I got this wonderful award from so many of you great gals here and I want you to know this does mean the WORLD to me...this came from Ann, Carol, Laura, Susan, Vanna and Mary....Now I am suppose to pass this on to 10 other bloggers...but being a Sisterhood award and I feel we are all Sisters in the Wonderful World of Blogland...Please take it if you don't have it...also I have a real hard time with these awards...I can not just put names on a list to pass them on as I truly do Love everyone here, you have all become like a family to be !!! so Please understand that some times I will just put them on my side bar....

1. You have obviously been successful in business - do you attribute that to ambition, hard work, being in the right place at the right time, or something else?

Answer...All of the above...I knew at a very early age that you had to have ambition and work hard...I was a single Mother with 3 very small Children and I was working 3 jobs to support my children as I didn't get child support for them ...I met Wally when I was 25 that take care of the right place at the right time one...We had a scientific manufacturing company where we made micro manipulators and Mechanical Stages for Yeast and DNA , Stainless Hip joints for Hip replacements, Knee caps, and even finger joints...And we had the patent on the Micro manipulators and Mechanical stages....

2, I dub you the queen of collectors, is there one thing you are still searching for ?

Answer...YES Always on the Hunt for one more Great piece !!! Antiques are like a sickness that once you start you never want to quit...

3. were you an outdoor type or indoor type as a child ?

Answer... I loved being in the house with my Mama cooking and decorating and as a small child I could see a dress in a store and go home and draw a pattern on a paper bag and then made clothes for my dolls...just like the dress I seen..I loved to sew..So I was and still am an indoor person...

4. its obvious you adore your family and Husband is there someone else you feel especially connected with ?

Answer...I have not had a real connection with anyone one since My Husband Wally died in 1999..he really was my Life's love, my best friend and I will never have that again...I now have a connection with all my blogging friends.

5. Is there any thing on your "bucket List" you still want to do or conquer, or accomplish ?

Answer...Sally I think at my age I have done it all...I have flew air planes got my pilot license bungee jumped, sky dived, raced cars, and even worked at the San Francisco Playboy Club as a Bunny!!! I have had a GREAT life..My bucket has ran over...

So there are my answers to your questions...

~WILD HAIR DAY~

Happy Monday to every one...Now we all know what today is Susan's At Between Naps on the Porch http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ Met Monday...Please go by and see all the great Butterflies today...and Thanks Susan for hosting a fun day.. Now the first thing I had to do for this fun PROJECT was get out my "Honey do whistle " and get Len's attention...Now have you ever had a Wild Hair Day...of course you have !!!

Last March I am sitting in my old RED robe drinking my morning coffee in my living room and thinking how I don't like this room its too big and I wanted a office, So I used the "Honey Do Whistle" got Len's attention and told him lets put up a wall and make this 2 room's....So off to Lowe's I send him with his list... and that day he started framing in the wall....

Now here Is Len with his helper...hammering , sawing and fogging up the Air with their mouths !!! ( think soap in mouth )

Now the next day we had it sheet rocked and muddied....you do notice how I keep saying we?? well I am the Go-fer and the Picker-upper...the sandwich makers and the soda getter...so this is a WE project around our house...plus I have to then tell him for days after he does something what a wonderful job he did...pat his back...high five him !!! Oh the list goes on and on well you get the picture...

Now this is the new Wall....Of course the project that only took 3 days then...took a month waiting for new carpet to come in , new drapes, new paint job, new ceiling lite, new wall lites, and crown moulding...kinda like buying a new lamp shade and then redoing the whole room around it Ha Ha !! now we have all been there!!!

Now this is what it looks like now....I just love having a smaller and more cozy living room and also around that wall is my very own office now....

Now I hope all of you have a Great day and if anyone needs any information on where to get a Honey Do Whistle let me know !!! I buy them by the case because Len keeps breaking and hiding them!!

~TIP"S TO GET READY FOR COMPANY~

You ever have one of those weeks where you didn't get a thing done ?? of Course you have... My Daughter Gina and her boy friend our coming today for the weekend...Oh NO!! I have been on this dang machine all week instead of cleaning and cooking...

So the first TIP I have for you is take a HAPPY Chill out Pill.....

Carry out the Cat !!!

Make a List....This is very Important !!!

Move the car...

Fix a Gourmet Dinner...
Take the frozen store bought cake out...So she thinks I been baking....


Change all the light bulbs in the house to VERY low wattage so she can't see the dust...And last but not least spray Pine-Sol by the door so she thinks I have been cleaning all week !!!

Hope all of you have a GREAT weekend...me I need to get my to do list done....Oh the things I do as a Mother !!! the list goes on and on....

~ WHAT'S 36 inches and PRETTY ~

Good Day my dear friends !!! are you ready for another one of my BORING antique lessons??? Of course you are....lol!! Ok now I wanted to show you some of my "YARD LONGS" Yard long prints were called that because they were a yard long... Each one has Calendar of the year on the back of these lithographs and advertising, some will have artists signatures on the front as well... All of these I will be showing you are from 1903 - 1929 . Now this first one is a Pabst beer advertisement and its 1903...I just fell in love with this and of course Just look at that Beautiful Red dress she is wearing... This one is titled " American Girl"This is a 1910 Pabst Beer one...its titled "Gorgeous Brunette"

Pabst girl titled " Lavender Girl" I just loved the way they dressed back then.. Oh and look at those Hats....

Now these next ones I am showing are all Pompeian beauty product advertisements...This is from 1919 and it titled " Liberty Girl" this was from World war one...and look at the solider in the back ground.. you such be able to click on any on these pictures to enlarge them...but PLEASE remember my dust rules...all the dust is my antique dust which I really seem to collect ha ha!!

1920 titled " Sweetest story ever told" or Prom Night... And see her sweet hearts shadow in the background??

Now these are a series of Pompeian pictures that they did....1925 titled "Beauty Gained is Love Retained " see she is getting her engagement ring here from her Honey...sighs !!!

Now she must have said "I do " because this is 1922 titled" Honeymooning in Venice"



Also 1922 titled " Honeymooning in the Alps" boy this gal had a great Honeymoon...these were all done by the same artist Gene Pressler



1916 Pompeian By : Forbes Signed: Sincerely Mary Pickford...Beautiful Mary Pickford in pale blue dress, seated and holding daisy in her hands, has moon shining on water in the background. This same print was brought back in 1922 and 1923 for advertising purposes...These prints are getting harder for me to find...there are also ones that that have a YARD of Kittens, Roses. and Puppies, Pansies, But I have been on the HUNT now for 15 years to find a " Selz Good Shoes " advertisement one Oh but I love a good Hunt...

Now I hope I didn't bore you to much..as a rule these hang on the wall going up my stairs...but Len has been painting that since Sunday YAHOO!! of course I told you about Len and his project's and how I am the go-fer...

~ My 1 ROOM CABIN ~

Hey Guys !!! I thought I would share with you my 1 room cabin in the mountains... When we bought this place in 1976 it really was just a Cabin in the woods..This was our weekend get away place...

Now here our the Proud owners in 1977 in front of our Hideaway...Now this Cabin didn't even have a bath or shower...just a sink and toilet so when we came up here we really did rough it..I took many PTA baths !!! Oh you are asking what does the PTA stand for?? well its "Powder the Ass" Oh my did I say that?? you bet I did...

Now here we have Aunt Joyce and me out in front...see we have added a Patio and a cover and see that window well that's the shower we added YAHOO!! toss out the powder and give me some soap....1978

Now all of these next Pictures are the same spot in the Kitchen....This one is 1978 and this was the kitchen and that really was all the counter space in here and a 2 burner stove and don't you love my sign ??? that's how I felt when I had to cook in this small space...Now remember this cabin was 350 foot and that included the living room, dining room , bedroom, and kitchen..very cozy...

Now this was in 1988 when we first moved up here...we added a Living room, and bedroom on and then redid the cabin and made it into just a kitchen and dinning area...At this time we were just moving in...but look at that BIG smile on my face !!! Now remember this is all the same area you are seeing through the years...

Now in 1996 we added a formal dinning room on to this cabin and so again we redid the kitchen and this is what I have today...my Old Fashion kitchen that I always wanted...I had the blue and white tiles made and the Stove is an Elmira that I ordered and waited for 3 months to get..its a re pop of a 1850 Victorian stove...I had wanted this stove for 6 years and one day Wally just said go ahead and order your stove...because we are not going to redo this kitchen again... So now my little 1 room cabin in the woods is now 4000 sq ft...When people ask me how old is this house I tell them 1969, 1978,1988,1996,1999,and 2005 Pick a year ha ha!!! Hope you enjoyed seeing my 1 room Cabin...
