Kachow.
It’s no secret that American actor Owen Wilson loves Vancouver. He’s been coming here for years, and seemingly not just when he has a project that’s filming in the area. Does he love our endless rain? Maybe he’s just into the fact that he can come to the city and not be bombarded by fans? Or maybe he really just digs our food that much. He’s often spotted dining at our local spots—including the ones below.
So brush up on your “wows” and prepare to eat like the king of chill himself.
Oddfish
Wilson has been quietly making Oddfish in Kits one of his go-to spots, with attentive staff noticing the Hollywood star enjoying more than one meal there over the last few years. Perhaps he took the advice from our round-up of the city’s best fries.
Oddfish is located at 1889 West 1st Avenue.
Farmers Apprentice and Grapes & Soda
Grapes & Soda is a cozy, intimate spot known for its fresh, local ingredients and limited seating. Sister spot (and next-door neighbour) Farmer’s Apprentice is a long-time cozy favourite for its farm-to-table menu and good cocktail list. Wilson has dined at both; just a few months ago, our editor-in-chief spotted the shaggy-haired man himself at an outdoor Farmer’s Apprentice table.
Grapes and Soda is located at 1541 West 6th Avenue.

While filming an upcoming sports comedy, Wilson found time to pop into Zarak, a stylish Afghan spot on Main Street. Known for its shareable plates and unique blend of spices, Zarak is a must-visit for celebrities and non-famous folks alike.
Zarak is located at 2102 Main Street.
Maenam
In 2023, Wilson stopped by Maenam to savour the chef’s tasting menu, diving into the restaurant’s vibrant, flavour-packed Thai dishes. Chef Angus An mentioned that the actor loved it so much that he couldn’t resist returning later that week for takeout.
Maenam is located at 1938 West 4th Avenue.
Maizal

This Mexican street-food spot shared a photo on Instagram with the actor this past summer, thanking him for stopping by. Even celebrities like cheap eats! They’re just like us!
Maizal is located at 2815 Main Street.
La Taqueria

Back in 2014, Wilson was spotted at La Taqueria, proving that his love for Mexican food is nothing new. The real question is: did he order a regular marg or a spicy one?
La Taqueria has two Vancouver locations (2450 Yukon Street and 322 Hastings Street, though the Hastings Street location is set to close before the end of the year). There are also locations at Brentwood Mall (4567 Lougheed Hightway, Burnaby) and North Vancouver (1305 Welch Street).
