For tasks that call for a balance of finesse and power, such as coaxing wooden parts into position without damage, a mallet is all about the controlled application of force. This one has two faces of different hardnesses, so you can choose the one that delivers a firmer or softer blow.
The white face is made of ultra-dense polymer (“superplastic”) with high impact resistance, best suited for use on harder materials. The red face is composed of softer TPE plastic that’s more forgiving on softwoods and materials that require a gentler touch.
While the 1 5/8" diameter faces are highly durable, the mallet comes with two spare faces (one white, one red) so you can replace them should they become worn or damaged. Each face threads into the head and locks in place; to remove it, you can use an included lock-release pin or a small finishing nail.
Well made from fiberglass-reinforced nylon with a zinc-alloy core within the head and a shock-absorbing coating of thermoplastic rubber on the handle, the mallet measures 11 3/4" and weighs just under 1 1/2 lb.
