EDUPUB Europe 2014
EDUPUB Europe 2014 will take place June 19, Oslo, Norway. The goal of this one-day meeting is to bring together major players of the global K-20 education segment- including publishers, institutions, platform and solution providers, standardization organizations, content distributors, and accessibility organizations - to provide an update and make further progress on the EDUPUB initiative to advance the effective adoption and use of e-textbooks and other digital learning materials by improving interoperability, accessibility, and baseline capabilities via broad adoption of enabling technical standards.

EDUPUB is an alliance of trade and standards organizations and other stakeholders working to establish a globally interoperable, accessible, open ecosystem for e-Textbooks and other Digital Learning Materials via EPUB 3, Educational Sector Standards and the Open Web Platform.
EDUPUB Europe 2014 (#edupubeur2014) will provide an update on the emerging EDUPUB profile of EPUB 3, including progress on the project areas defined at the first EDUPUB workshop in October, 2013 in Boston and further advanced in the second EDUPUB workshop in February . These project areas are intended to facilitate convergence of or best practices in using key standards to address business and technical challenges in creating and delivering engaging, effective digital education content at scale that is cross-platform and connects within the educational ecosystem.
The workshop wiill review the EDUPUB profile of EPUB 3, the progress on other projects initiated at the first workshop, as well as additional sharing of perspectives, requirements, and ideas to help ensure that EDUPUB is on the right track for rapid industry adoption. Particular focus areas will include interoperable learning analytics and accessibility. The agenda is now available.

An ongoing executive-level EDUPUB international steering committee has been established as an outcome of the first two EDUPUB meetings. The executive steering committee consists of industry-leading organizations that have a demonstrated ability and interest in EDUPUB adoption either from the supply or user perspective. The executive steering committee serves as the ongoing program committee for the EDUPUB workshop series. and helps to facilitate coordination of the technical standards development work, which is formally the responsibility of the participating standards organization under who’s auspices that specific work activity will be completed (IDPF, IMS Global, W3C, or other organization as required).
