Trancegemini, yes. You can't even go out that window/door in the living room and there is also basement access inside the house by the crazy stairwell. Mjlb, I can't imagine living 4 years on military furniture. I know some of our potential locations we would HAVE to store most of our household goods. I would only hope those locations have more comfortable furnishings than the things the military provided us here until our things arrived. Think...doctor's office waiting room or something equally uncomfortable. I am thankful, though, the military does provide for us and everyone with something until our own things come. Geogirl, I know. We are so happy to be here and have these opportunities. The antiques here are gorgeous. We have committed ourselves to one big furniture purchase a year here (which is what we did in the US as well), looking for great quality sturdy things preferably antique but open to anything as long as its well-made and can survive many more mili moves. In the meantime, we have to make our space work for us and make it feel like home. That's something we never really did in Texas, make our house a home.

i love the hares! Sorry, i meant light as in white, pale pink, etc. that blue, while fairly light is still more color saturated then many colors. Neutral is great, do you have artwork? Most feel it is boring in a short period if you do not have other focuses of color, etc. i got some great pillows go with it don't often get tu use, be fun dragging them out! ymmy. remember let me know so ican look up or toss.

Hi miyajima 2018 - You are very welcome! What color to paint your walls will depend on what accent colors you choose. I do think that painting the walls an obvious grey would be too much grey. (Especially since it does rain a lot in London!) What are the paint manufacturers that you have access to in the U.K. so we can tell you specific paint colors once you tell us the colors with which you would like to decorate your lovely new home? As for your other colors, so there is no misunderstanding, maybe you can upload some photos of objects in the colors that you like. They don't need to be furniture, they can be anything, a something from nature, or a room that is not your style, a piece of fabric, anything at all, just tell us what it is you like. For example, I recommended a paint color to a fellow Houzzer as looking like a pomegranate and put up a photo and another clever Houzzer found just the perfect color to match! If you have no idea where to start with your color choices, you can go to an art store and buy a color wheel for a few pounds and play with it, or you can look on line for one. If you only want blue, then you could have a monochromatic scheme, plus the dark grey calmed by the soothing, earthy neutral of your wood media unit and a wood or wood top dining table. You could have a white sofa with throw pillows in shades of blue in textural fabric such as velvet or suede. If not a white sofa, you could get a very light grey sofa, too. Do you know which blue you want? The rich blue of a Sri Lankan sapphire is marvelous- in the color thesaurus, http://mentalfloss.com/article/75713/name-every-shade-rainbow-color-thesaurus it would be either cobalt, lapis, or azure. Look how that blue goes with turquoise and greens , if you want to go into additional color. Doesn't the above remind you of a peacock feather? I just love those! We have only to look to nature for marvelous color combinations! I don't know how much mid century modern you want to go, but you could get a dining set that has the clean lines of the Scandinavian designs and mid century modern look, such as the set in the photo I posted above. You could also get a side chair reminiscent of one of the mid century modern icons such as these, or others. And brighten the space with other mid century features such as a starburst mirror of which there are many types. And for a fun pop of color, there is this Eames wall- mounted coat rack which also comes in wood if you want a more serious palette

All of the dimensions are approximate. If you would like to add dimensions and send back, I would be happy to revise the plan. This layout will give you a better flow and tighten up the zones. By relocating the tv and anchoring the main seating area with the new rug, it will delineate the function as lounging and tv watching. When you had the tv on the stair wall, the elevation of that wall is confusing and distracting with the entrance, stair, tv, hall to powder room. There was no place for your eyes to rest. You want your home to be inviting and relaxing. To add much needed front entrance storage, Ikea has simple tall storage cabinets. See link below. It can stay at the front door where you originally had your stand, but will be a closed cabinet. Relocate your wedding pic to the stair wall and put a narrow bench below. A beautiful bright color or print fabric would look key. The back area is the perfect place for a kid zone and the large lounge chair. Place a window seat under the window that will accommodate a toy chest under the seat and lots of pillows. Add bookcases on either side of the lounge chair, a small table with kids chairs for games, That little corner on the left is perfect for a kids tent. All the window treatments should be simple solid color (I like white or cream) curtain panels ceiling to floor, and full: at least 2x the width of the window and gathered tightly.
