Taheya Carioca

Taheya Carioca was one of Egypt's most celebrated stars. She was born in 1919, and ran away to pursue her dream of dancing. She became a famous belly dancer, introducing latin American beats to the traditional music and creating her own unique style.She went on to star in many films. She was feisty and fun- she married 14 different husbands, and as legend has it, once slapped King Farouk for throwing an ice cube down her dress! You can read more about her here
