The Dorchester Reporter serves Boston’s largest and most diverse neighborhood, a coastal community home to more than 125,000 people.

Founded in 1983 by Ed and Mary Forry, the award-winning independent newspaper and its website DotNews.com are read by an estimated 25,000 people each week, making it one of the Boston area’s top sources for news, commentary and advertising. Its readers include current and former mayors of Boston, developers and residents from across the city.

Ed and Mary’s son, Bill Forry, serves as executive editor. In 2020, the Reporter received the “Better Journalism” award for editorial writing from the New England Newspaper & Press Association. That same year, Ed Forry received a lifetime achievement award in the field of community journalism.

The Reporter is also a partner with some of the region’s leading news organizations, including WBUR 90.9FM, a NPR member station owned by Boston University, and the State House News Service and Universal Hub.

We continue to make intentional investments in high-quality journalism — and that drives our readership, both in print and online.
