A murdered teenager posted a tragic final TikTok video showing her posing in her bedroom mirror just hours before she was killed by her father. In the clip posted on July 4, only a day before her death, Scarlett Vickers, 14, can be seen in an all-black outfit, playing with her hair as she holds her phone up in front of her face. The TikTok, which is captioned 'Ignore the mess pls', is set to the song 'Born To Die' by US singer Lana Del Rey. Simon Vickers, 50, was today found guilty of murdering his 14-year-old daughter, Scarlett, after stabbing her in the heart. Vickers insisted that his only child died in a 'freak accident' at their home in Darlington, County Durham, after he 'accidentally' swiped a knife.

A thug who killed a man by driving 4x4 over his head in an 'act of revenge' was jailed for life. Self-proclaimed 'bad boy' Kyle Dumble, 27, will spend at least 17 years in prison after crushing Jack Field, 24, under the wheels of a Mitsubishi Shogun to 'teach him a lesson'. Mr Field was walking home from birthday celebrations in Hailsham, East Sussex on November 18 2023 when Dumble used the car to knock him to the ground. Speaking at Hove Crown Court, Judge Jeremy Gold said Dumble's actions were 'an act of revenge'. The court heard Mr Field suffered fatal crushing injuries when Kyle Dumble drove at him to 'sort him out'.

The service for the TV star, real name James Lee Williams , who died earlier this month, was held in Denbighshire, North Wales. Mikhail Pichugin, 45, had been drifting for hundreds of miles in the inhospitable Sea of Okhotsk - in the far north-east of Russia - after his engine broke while on an adventure trip to watch whales in their natural habitat. When he was found alive, the haggard and gaunt Mr Pichugin was hailed as a hero in Russia for surviving for so long in such harsh conditions. However, Mr Pichugin now faces up to seven years in jail for causing the deaths of his brother, Sergei Pichugin, and his nephew, Ilya. The family members were returning from a whale-watching trip near the remote Shantar Islands when their motor stopped working 37 miles from shore.

Lara Rapelli, 24, was heading to the San Siro stadium to watch AC Milan take on Girona when she said she was surrounded by a group of men on the city's packed metro, with no way to get free. 'We were all crowded together, you couldn't breathe. Suddenly I felt a person behind me putting something on me. I tried to push, to move, but there was very little space,' she told Italian media. Survivors were applauded as the entered the ceremony before addressing invited guests including France 's President Emmanuel Macron , German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Spain's King Philip VI and Queen Letizia , Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky and King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands . Among the survivors speaking today was Marian Turski, 98, who condemned a 'huge rise' in antisemitism, calling for 'courage' against Holocaust deniers.

Iain Owens, 46; Elaine Lannery, 40; Lesley Williams, 43; Paul Brannan, 42; Scott Forbes, 51; Barry Watson, 48; and John Clark, 48, were convicted in November 2023 following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

It was a truly powerful sight: the Polish pope who had grown up under Nazi occupation kneeling in prayer at Auschwitz's Death Wall. There, in June 1979, John Paul II asked God for peace during his visit to what had been the centre of the Nazis' horrifying killing machine. Today, on the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz' liberation, survivors and relatives of victims also prayed and left floral tributes at the Death Wall, as it has become known. Although what stands today is a reconstruction - the original was dismantled by the Nazis in 1944 - the wall is a poignant symbol of the crimes that took place at the camp in occupied Poland . Between 1941 and 1944, thousands of people - mostly Polish political prisoners but also Jews and Soviet prisoners of war - who had been condemned to die were lined up in front of the wall and shot. Nearby was Block 10, where twisted doctors - including the notorious Josef Mengele - performed horrifying experiments on selected men, women and children. John Paul II's visit was followed by both of his immediate successors. Pope Benedict came in 2006, whilst Pope Francis made the trip in 2016.

This is the shocking moment a dead man appeared to open his eyes while lying in a coffin in front of stunned mourners at his funeral. The deceased man's loved ones were gathered at his funeral in the Dominican Republic when they noticed his eyelids seemed to be flickering. Images of the man show him draped in white inside a coffin with a glass window above his face. His eyes appear to be closed in one image as he lay peacefully inside the case, but in the next moment they seem to have opened as a mourner grabbed a snap. The eerie incident left the funeral guests startled, with one family member saying: 'Who knows if he's fighting for his life?' Some concerned relatives reportedly suggested calling an ambulance to take him to hospital in case he was miraculously still alive.But other locals suggested the corpse's alleged eye movement could have been caused by the mobile phone flashlights. One said: 'Post mortem muscle memory, it presents itself in some corpses'.
