After nearly 35 years off the market, Lenox's famed Spice Village is officially back again. And Christmas must have come early, because Lenox is also staying true to their 1989 pricing on the set.

Lenox Spice Village 24-Jar Full Collection

Spice Village 24-Jar Full Collection

After originally launching in 1989, the spice village was discontinued in 1993, but it gained popularity in recent years among collectors and thrifters. It wasn't uncommon to see a single house in the set go for over fifty dollars on resale sites, with the entire 24-jar set often going for over a thousand — if you could ever find one.

And fans couldn't be more excited about the new launch. "I told my mom if for some reason I’m dead and gone before May rolls around she better put my ashes in every one of those jars when they come," said one Instagram comment.

With the new relaunch, Lenox stayed true to the original design, with each miniature, hand-painted Victorian house showcasing the classic whimsical colorway that collectors love. The attention to detail — one of the most cherished components of the original set — wasn't sacrificed in the slightest in the newer version.

However, there's currently no rack included in the relaunch — an element that many collectors miss. The original set from the '90s included a multi-tiered wooden wall rack, that also happens to resell for hundreds of dollars. But, rumor has it (and by rumor we mean a comment thread on the product listing) that a rack is in the works, and will hopefully be available next spring.

There are three options for getting your set (or completing it) — buy the full 24-piece set, go for groupings of six, or buy each individually. Orders are limited to just one set per customer, so the resell market on these will be practically non-existent. The full 24-piece set will run you $285, which is exactly what the OGs paid in 1989, while the individual houses are $15 and 6-piece sets for $72. The set is reportedly coming to Macy's at some point, but it's currently only available on Lenox's website.

While most fans of the spice village are ecstatic, Instagram commenters were quick to point out one major flaw in the relaunch (besides the lack of the spice rack) — shipping is limited to the US only. "No international shipping is CRAZY," one said.

Currently, the spice village is only open for preorder — and the line to get one is LONG. Lenox is doing a rolling pre-order, so the earlier you sign up, the sooner you get your spice village. At time of publication, the full set won't ship until September 2025, with the smaller collections of six shipping in May 2025 and individuals shipping in spring 2025. One year might be quite a while to wait for a new spice set, but if you're considering it, take this as your nudge to order. Those ship dates are only going to get longer.
