Country music fans are in for a treat! Two of its biggest stars are teaming up for a brand-new song, and some people are already deeming it award-worthy.

Carrie Underwood and Cody Johnson took to social media to announce a new duet, which will drop on September 27. "I'm Gonna Love You" brings together two of country music's biggest stars. Cody shared a glimpse of the music video with his fans on Instagram, and, while it doesn't reveal much about the song, it's still chill inducing.

Cody wrote on the post, "Thrilled to announce that 'I’m Gonna Love You' is coming out next Friday, 9/27. Thank you @carrieunderwood for joining me on this one and making it so special. Can’t wait for y’all to hear it."

Fans joined in the excitement and left messages like:

  • "Ain’t even heard it yet, already thinking duet of the year."
  • "Most exciting collaboration in a long time! 😍🔥"
  • "NO FLIPPIN WAY 😱 the best male & female country singers on my list are collabing!?!?!? 😱"
  • "This is going number 1, and will win Video of the year."

Cody revealed a little more of the song on X. The short clip doesn't include Carrie's vocals, but Cody sings, "Stars are gonna light up the midnight sky. The suns' gonna burn on the 4th of July. Tides are gonna turn with the pull of the moon. And I'm gonna love you."

This new song may be a surprise to fans, but it has been in the works for some time. According to Taste of Country, Cody planned to include it on his 2023 release Leather, but decided to hold it for a "part B" of that album, which has not yet been announced.
