Mix Natural Wood with Whites

This primary bedroom is awash in a variety of white hues, from crisp white planked walls to a white linen slipcovered chair to layers of white bedding. To break up the sea of white, homeowner Maria Carr replaced the original closet door with a raw wood salvaged door, chose black oak flooring laid in a herringbone pattern, and added a rustic pine bench.

If there are wood walls hidden under wallpaper or drywall, by all means show it off. This calming room was covered in a 1970s pink floral wallpaper when its homeowners first bought it, but underneath the bowed drywall they discovered shiplap (!) that they painted white.
