If a bed isn’t exactly right for a room, you can always amend it. For this bedroom, the legs of a four-poster mahogany bed were trimmed down and capped with bun feet to create a less formal look. Plaid bedding and a cushion for the bench at the foot of the bed add a tailored look.

White is sure nice, but keeping everything white can start to look a little one note. To break up the sea of white, homeowner Maria Carr replaced the original closet door with a raw wood salvaged door, chose black oak flooring laid in a herringbone pattern, and added a rustic pine bench.

To complete the modern farmhouse look, they added a platform bed, antique blankets, and an old leather chair found on Craigslist.
