Nothing brings a welcoming and relaxing vibe quite like farmhouse decor. The look works for any room in your home from the kitchen to the living room, but we’re especially partial to how it plays out in a bedroom. Here, we give you 35 bedrooms full of pretty and inviting farmhouse bedroom ideas that are sure inspire your room’s decor.
Whether you are decorating or refreshing a primary bedroom, a guest bedroom, or a kid’s room, along with the paint colors and furniture, you’ll also want to consider how to incorporate textural layers, soulful collections, and the right storage components. These rooms below will give you ideas for all of that, including wall decor, beds and reading chairs, lighting, and much more. And, even better, they are all achievable on a budget so they're sure to make for a comfy, cozy space you might just never want to leave.
Here are more decorating ideas to inspire you bedroom’s design:
Rethink the traditional headboard and see what antique piece you can find to act as one. Here a hand-painted French screen from a local antiques shop is the star of this guest room. A block print duvet complements the floral theme, and a bobbin-style nightstand holds sun-faded beach reads.
Before you start decorating a room, first look at what the space has to offer and what elements of it you can mimic in your design elements. In this Georgia farmhouse, a gray-brown floral wallpaper mimics the hue of the weathered ceiling beams and offers a feminine (but not frilly) foil to the room’s rustic elements. The former park bench at the foot of the comfortable tufted bed features someone’s nearly faded, hand-carved initials.
For an ideal guest room, thoughtful touches include adjustable sconces for reading, an antique side table to corral bedside necessities, a simple wooden bed frame (like this classic Jenny Lind) for farmhouse flair, and a cotton matelassé coverlet topped with an extra quilt. Your guests may never leave!
Patina is the magic word for a bedroom with character. Here, designer Amy Meier left the knots in the board-and-batten paneling untreated so they show the natural timber beneath, and the vintage botanical prints are likewise framed in unfinished wood so they too can patina over time. All those elements are a nice contrast to the sleek walnut canopy bed.
Flank either side of a bed with a collection of vintage art like these flower oil paintings the homeowner found on Chairish. She reframed many of them to get just the right look to go with the green floral bedding from Jane Shelton.

Mismatching furniture pieces creates a laid-back vibe for any bedroom. Here the bedside tables differ on either side of a wooden four-poster bed with simple lines. Now favored as an interesting architectural detail, leaving wall-joists exposed is a historic look that originated as an inexpensive way to cover wall seams.
Don’t be shy of pattern mixing! For this guest bedroom, homeowner Amy Whyte first selected the wallpaper design and then layered additional pattern and color through the bedding. “When you put the pattern on the wall, it establishes a sort of hierarchy and lets you bring in other patterns and prints on the bed and the furniture,” she says.

Adjust Furniture to Fit the Room
Brie Williams, styling by Elizabeth Demos
If a bed isn’t exactly right for a room, you can always amend it. For this bedroom, the legs of a four-poster mahogany bed were trimmed down and capped with bun feet to create a less formal look. Plaid bedding and a cushion for the bench at the foot of the bed add a tailored look.
Moss green walls in this guest bedroom were inspired by the pretty landscape outside the windows. A petite nightstand tucks in perfectly between twin poster beds dressed in ivory coverlets and crisp floral and gingham linens in coordinating green tones.
Just because a bedroom is small doesn’t mean you can’t create plenty of room for extra seating. Here, the two twin beds are pushed against the walls to make room for a loveseat flanked by narrow side tables. A colorful striped rug complements the happy hue of the pillow shams.
In this Texas bungalow, raw pine shiplap walls are the perfect backdrop for a pair of twin beds that belonged to the homeowner's grandfather. The antique trunk, now used as a nightstand for both beds, goes back three generations; the sconces above the beds were an eBay score.
Nothing creates a serene and airy bedroom like an all-white palette. Painting the planked ceiling, shiplap walls, and trim all the same crisp, clean white made this 170-square-foot room look airy and spacious.
You can never go wrong with a quilt for colorful bedding, and the more beds to put them on, the better. This kids' room fits seven twins and a full and mixes and matches headboards, sheet sets, and vintage quilts.
White is sure nice, but keeping everything white can start to look a little one note. This primary bedroom is awash in a variety of white hues, from crisp white planked walls to a white linen slipcovered chair to layers of white bedding. To break up the sea of white, homeowner Maria Carr replaced the original closet door with a raw wood salvaged door, chose black oak flooring laid in a herringbone pattern, and added a rustic pine bench.
If there are wood walls hidden under wallpaper or drywall, by all means show it off. This calming room was covered in a 1970s pink floral wallpaper when its homeowners first bought it, but underneath the bowed drywall they discovered shiplap (!) that they painted white. To complete the modern farmhouse look, they added a platform bed, antique blankets, and an old leather chair found on Craigslist.
We love the quirky collection of dog artwork above the bedside table in this rustic mountain house bedroom. Hand-carved tramp art frames that encase several make the arrangement complete. The stunning king-size tulip bed was custom-made from ‘Tiger Eye’ maple.

You can add a focal point to a room full of light neutrals by painting an accent wall like this one in a calming gray-green tone. The attic bedroom's ceiling and side walls are painted a crisp white to make it feel more spacious.
Bring the cozy vibes up a few notches by layering rugs under or near the bed. Here the three smaller rugs layered atop honey-colored wood floors add color to the space as well as act as a budget-friendly alternative to a large, expensive rug.

A simple pencil post bed purchased on an online auction sits against a wall covered in a pretty blue and white floral pattern. Solid bed linens let the wallpaper take center stage. But make no mistake: The real star of the show is that sweet pup sneaking a rest!
