Easter weekend is officially here! The holiday falls early this year, so it's understandable if you're caught a little off-guard. We're here to help you get ready for one of our favorite Easter traditions: the Easter egg hunt! Whether you're entertaining the kids in your family or everyone in the neighborhood, it's time to get the party rolling with some fun Easter egg hunt ideas. But you don't want to go with the same old boring Easter egg hunt (especially as the kids get older), so we're here with ways to make it more interesting!
There are so many ways to make your Easter egg hunt more fun, but one of the main things to keep in mind is the age of everyone involved. Older kids will love solving scavenger clues that will lead them to their Easter baskets, eggs filled with coupons offering coveted privileges (an extra hour of screen time, oh boy!), or even hunts that incorporate other Easter games and activities, like a relay race or tag. For tweens and teens, a nighttime glow-in-the-dark hunt will take the adventure to the next level (BTW, this is one of our favorite Easter egg hunt idea for adults too).
Got a first timer on the field? Easter Bunny tracks marking the way, whimsical signs, or even helium balloons tied to each egg are all eggscellent Easter egg hunt ideas for toddlers who might need a little extra help. Next year, you might try stepping up the challenge with a color matching or counting activity. And no matter what age they are all kids love a special Easter basket, so we've got some cute ideas for that, too!!
Whoever you're planning an Easter egg hunt for, you are sure to find an awesome idea here. Ready, set, hunt!
1
Hide a Golden Egg.
the_burtons
Make the hunt even more competitive by hiding one golden Easter egg. Instead of the typical candy, fill this one egg with money (you determine the amount, but even $5 will get people excited). Let everyone know ahead of time and let the games begin!

Host a Nighttime Hunt
Bryan Allen
Glow-in-the-dark eggs are fun, but for an extra challenge, make it completely dark! Give the kids flashlights and turn off the lights or take the hunt outside for a fun game for older kids.

Enlist the Kids to Decorate the Eggs
Kids will love hunting for the eggs they spent time decorating. These DIY fingerprint eggs are so easy to make and fun to display post hunt. To make: Have kids dip their fingertips in craft paint and gently press them onto blown real eggs or white wooden eggs. Allow to dry completely. Once dry use acrylic paint pens or Sharpies to add details, such as a chick face and legs, carrot tops, and egg decorations. Once dry nestle in an easter basket.
4
Personalize an Easter Basket
Not only will it get kids excited to collect, but this idea will also make it clear whose basket is whose. To make: Braid together three lengths of chunky weight yarn or twine, holding the ends together with a dab of hot glue. Form braid into desired letter and trim excess lengths, folding end under and holding in place with hot glue. Repeat as needed. Glue braids onto a basket forming into letter shapes as you go.
Fill plastic eggs with prize tokens that kids can redeem for treats (or cash they can spend on treats) and other fun prizes!

If you have Taylor Swift fans in your life, host an Eras-themed hunt. Decorate eggs based on each of her albums and blast her music while you hunt! (After all, Swifties are used to hunting for Easter eggs!)
Plop these cute, crafted eggs in the veggie patch. They will blend right in and make for an interesting challenge.
To make: Paint or dye three-quarters of a blown-out white egg pink. Create roots by attaching pieces of off-white twine to the bottom with hot-glue. Roll up light green crepe paper to create a stem; seal seam with glue. Cut leaves from crepe paper; wrap around stem, and attach with glue. Glue stem to top of egg.

Note: As the organizer, you will assign a monetary value to each mystery number. Keep those values low to ensure no one owes more than a few bucks at the end.

Water Egg Hunt

If you're fortunate enough to be somewhere warm for Easter (or have a heated pool), head to the water for your Easter egg hunt. Simply toss eggs in, and let the kids track them down. If you have older kids who are strong swimmers, add weights to some of the eggs so they sink to the bottom. Make sure plenty of adults are on hand to make sure everyone stays safe.
